Hi
In 70k miles I can't say I ever thought about torque settings for axles I guess since there are spacers between the wheel bearings and the bearings are standard deep groove ball bearings that using a standard length 22mm spanner is ok .
Mark.

Like Mark - nothing precise, just use a spanner to white knuckle setting, bulging veins is too much.

I think the old adage was, "Shear and back 2 flats".

Not too tight, the bolt through the fork leg will hold the spindle.

Tighten the nut to take up the play between the fork legs and wheel, tighten the 13mm bolt then tighten the spindle nut. Too tight on the spindle and, as my friend found, you can break the speedo drive housing.
