Front Sprockets

Post by Guvo »

Does any body have knowledge on the change of gearing on the Moto Morini Corsaro Veloce.I am not wearing my tires out fast enough and have surprising fuel ecconomy. The standard front sprocket fitment is a 17 tooth.I would like to fit a 16 tooth front sprocket but need to know if the output shaft spline pattern is a common generic type between other motorcycle brands or not? I am hopeing that I can walk in to a local Ducati or Honda dealer and purchase a 16 tooth front sprocket and it will be splined identically.

Guvo,
did you get an answer to your question or get a 16 tooth sprocket. I'm thinking of doing the same. Would like to hear your comments about how it goes

Although a 17 tooth front sprocket is quite large compared to some bikes I personally would do 3 larger on the back (the equivalent of appx 1.2 smaller on front), a smaller front sprocket will wear the chain and sprocket quicker and put more point load on the gearbox output shaft.
