Marzocchi USD forks strip - most 1200 etc models

So the forks on my GP are pretty much toast.
The internals are not adjustable and the chrome is going and the seals are leaking.
So.
Has anyone changed the forks for another type.
Or.
I can strip the forks and rebuild with some adjustable internals.
Big question is, can you get GP stanchions and if so where from or I can get the forks stanchions properly chromed (where) but how do you get the caliper carrier off the bottom.
Any thoughts gratefully received.
