Rear brake master cylinder seals

Post by clanger9 »

Can anyone point me to a source for a rear brake master cylinder for a Dart - either complete or just the seals?
Is it just a standard Brembo cylinder?

I never found rebuild kits for the original master cylinder, although I’ve not looked for a long time.

I replaced mine about 15 years ago with a new one from a Guzzi V11 sport.

Brembo part number 30 66 69 00

The bolt spacing is not exactly the same as the dart needs but I used one bolt and made a bracket up to use the second bolt hole. Has been no problem. Other than that, it’s a more or less drop in replacement

Thank you. It does look like a fairly standard Brembo, so I'll have a closer look tomorrow...

Just to close this one out: the Dart master cylinder is an extremely obscure part (shared only with some rare Bimotas, it appears). It's not available anywhere and nor are repair kits. The 70mm spacing for the fixing centres is also unusual.

However, I was able to find a cheap Chinese part on eBay that does the job.

It needed a few packing washers to space it correctly off the mounting bracket (and slightly longer fixing bolts).

I also had to replace the Morini brake light switch with a 1.25mm thread pitch unit (the original Morini switch is 1mm pitch)

Finally, it needed an M6 18mm clevis pin to replace the original Morini clip.
The original fluid reservoir was retained.
It works fine and looks OK (if not 100% original)
