Is anyone out there running 100 / 90 R16 or 110 / 90 R16 Fronts on a Dart?
My local tyre man claims he cannot find a fitment by which I think he means a manufacturer listing a Morini Dart front tire, or a 100 / 80 R16.
I've done some research and many of the websites claiming to provide specs for all bikes claim they were fitted with a 110/80 R16 anyway. I've also looked at the original brochure which does not mention tyre sizes, only that the front rim is 2.5 inch which is well in the limits for a 110.
I've looked at Scooter tyres but they all seem to be P rated, which is a max of 93mph and a little short of a Darts top speed for insurance purposes.
The choice therefore seems to be either:

100/90 - BT45 or Metzeler or Pirelli sport demon

110/80 - Heidenau if the local man can get them easily

110/90 - BT45 or Pirelli sport demon

Any experiences of what fits the front mudguard? I've rashly promised to use it for the MRC club run on 3rd Aug and it needs an MoT as well so time is of the essence.

I've used Heidenau front and back but the local tyre place couldn't get them so I had to get them off the net and he fitted them. I've only ridden them on two outings (see other posts), they seem OK although I've not pushed them. Also not as pretty to look at as some of the more main stream manufacturer's offerings but they are the correct size and rating!

any good? as a pair? probably depends on what you have on the rear?

My mistake, I must have misinterpreted the jottings on the back of a business card but the standard size is 110/80 R16 and that’s the size only Heidenau appear to make, and most local dealers are not stockists.
Bridgestone and Pirelli make a 110/90, and I think a 120/80 so that’s the choice most of us have, at least if we want a tyre with a minimum S rating.

It's cafe run on the third of August. You need a cafe racer. You know my thoughts on this subject. You should ditch the mudguard and fit knobblies or better still Firestones . If you have time you could fashion a seat from your decking and wrap anything that might get hot in baco foil. Alternatively a 100/90 would be closer to 110/80 in diameter rather than going wider?

You could fit a Gilera Nuovo Saturno front wheel, it's the same style Brembo wheel, but in 17". The trouble is in finding one and then the probable cost!
A Mito front wheel doesn't look out of place, that's what Tom's running. He's using Mito forks too, but you can fit the wheel alone with the Dart disc and bearing bore reducers.

Freccia C9 lists 100/80 - 16 front and 100/80 - 17 rear.

Freccia C10 lists 100/80 - 16 front and 110/80 - 17 rear

Freccia C12 lists 100/80 - 16 front and 130/70 - 17 rear

Dart handbook lists 110/80 -16 front and 130/70 - 17 rear
The front mudguard has little riser plates that the Freccia doesn't. It also has the stanchion extenders and softer springs.

The C12 uses a different shape rear hugger, but for some reason the Dart uses a mirrored version of the C9 rear hugger, which is why the 130/70 - 17 tyre tends to rub.

A 100/90 front was the usual solution and apparently cures the tendancy for the bike to stand up if braking into a bend.

Mine came with a Pirelli Diablo Rosso 120/70 R16 (H-rated) on the front. It seems fine.
