Try this as a winter thought provoker........
Was just wondering if crash bobbins could do more damage than they could save?
I can understand if the bike is sliding they would act a a sacrificial point to wear down, but would be worried about them either becoming a pivot to flip the bike or if the bike fell sideways onto one more damage could result.
I dropped my Hornet in the summer at a standstill (shocked the driver behind too!). Only damage was a broken brake lever and a dint in the silencer. If I had fitted crash bobbins would the weight of the bike on the bobbin have caused a bent frame? 200kgs (I was loaded with full tank, throw overs and a full top box) is a lot of weight to bear on one point.
Any comments?
