Three Moors Run- Sunday 12th Sep

Post by morini_tom »

I've just had a call from Russell Benney saying that they have had a drop-out for this weekend's three moors run (or Giro South west) and asking if anyone in the club would be interested (I suspect at this stage a reasonable discount could be negotiated!)

Sounds like a really fun event, aimed primarily at small capacity bikes, so pre-V twin morinis would be ideal but 3 1/2s would be welcome too.

If anyone is at a loose end and fancies it then please read a bit more below, or contact Russell directly 07739 178988 or 01278 652439 or russell.benney@edf-energy.com or Russell@phaseone.co.uk

We leave at 1.00pm, at 1 minute intervals, this Sunday. from Moxhill Farm, Bridgwater.

Our 40 entries (I limit it at that) include 4 Morinis, all 175s – a Tresette and three Turismos.

We have Parillas, Bianchis, MVs, Gileras, Ducatis and a few Bantams and Terriers.

The main thing is that we are all out looking to have a good time both on and off the bikes – good food, good hotels, good company.

Anyway, this morning a guy dropped out and I am looking for a replacement to keep our numbers up….hence the call.

Normally the cost is £385 ( all in Hotels, food, breakdown van and baggage van) - but at this stage that is significantly negotiable...

PS; we have the our 4 day tiddler Portugal trip later in the month….

2021 Three Moors Run (Giro South West)
Sunday 12th September – Weds 15th September
Primarily for small capacity Classic ‘Tiddlers’ of 175cc or under

The second Three Moors Run (GSW) will run through some of the most beautiful scenery in the country, starting and finishing in Somerset. All three moors; Dartmoor, Exmoor and Bodmin Moor, will be traversed, plus those essential ‘ticks in the boxes’ across the sights of Devon and Cornwall. The route will involve mainly ’B’ roads and little used ‘A’ routes together with many slow narrow typical West Country lanes.

Three Hotels/Dinners are included, chosen based on character and good food rather than shiny glass and rectangles.

Back-up vans with capacity for six bikes will be provided (thanks to Lida, Linda, Louise and Tien) to mop-up breakdowns and to carry cases/bags/tools and spares between hotels.

Daily ‘recommended route’ cards will be issued for guidance, but the route is non-prescriptive, you can vary it as you wish.

One of the back–up vans will follow the recommended route only. The cost is £385 all-inclusive, based on a shared room.

The timetable is;
Day 1 Sunday 12th September Start 13.00 hrs from Moxhill Farm, Bridgwater, Somerset.
Meet up on Sunday morning, park vans/trailers securely at the farm, get ready/fuel up and attend at 12.00 AM for the briefing. A snack lunch will be available at the farm. On the road start at 13.00hrs, away at 1 min intervals from the farm. (approx. 89 miles). Dunster, Combe Martin, Ilfracombe and Woolacombe. Overnight at the Imperial Hotel, Barnstaple.

Day 2 Monday 13th September Approx. 126 miles through Devon/Cornwall countryside – recommended route along the rugged north Devon and Cornish coasts, including Clovelly, Hartland Point, Bude, Boscastle and Tintagel for lunch. Overnight stay at the Polurrian Hotel on the Lizard Peninsula.

Day 3 Tuesday 14th September Approx. 144 miles, firstly to Land’s End, then through Cornish countryside – following the old routes, lunch at Lanhydrock House. Then over the county border to Tavistock and the big climb back to central Dartmoor for the final dinner and stay, once again at the Two Bridges Hotel, with overspill at the nearby Cherrybrook B&B.
