We've had a positive response from people planning to attend this year's rally at the Lower Lode Inn, Tewkesbury on 17 - 19 May. If you're planning to come (camping or not) please let me know so that we can organise the catering. The timetable is:

Friday 17th
Arrive afternoon or evening. Corsaro Chris is planning to gather with others to ride in to the site together: he'll announce details of this.
Evening: socialising and order your own meal at the Lower Lode Inn.

Saturday
Breakfast from 8.00 - 10.00 (please tell the staff beforehand if you're having breakfast.) Welcome new arrivals at the rally
10.30: Either: walk into Tewkesbury to look at the abbey and other attractions OR: take part in the ride-out being organised.
12.30: all gather in Tewkesbury for lunch
2.30: return to Lower Lode Inn for:
3.00: Annual General Meeting - brief, to the point, and not waffley!
4.00: Open forum for general discussion about the club, event, activities and anything relevant.
Beauty Parade voting, tea, coffee, beer, socialising
7.00: free buffet dinner provided at the Lower Lode Inn (nobody has given any special dietary requirements yet, so please let us know beforehand if you don't like broccoli etc.) I understand that we're sharing the buffet with the Z1 Owners Club (Kawasakis, not BMWs), so be on your best behaviour.
Socialising and chat.

Sunday
Breakfast from 8.00 to 10.00 - again, please let staff at the Inn know beforehand if you will be eating
10.30: Singles Sunday: we hope to focus on the early Morini singles, so if you've brought one, excellent. Alternatively go on an informal ride-out in the local area.
12.30: order your lunch at the Inn
Afternoon: pack up, farewells and home.

It promises to be a very enjoyable, social and relaxed event, and I hope to see you there.

Mark.

I'm planning to arrive on the Friday and stay until late Saturday afternoon. I then need to head home as I've one of my daughter's visiting from abroad that weekend. I'll be staying at the Watherspoon's pub in the town on Friday night so need to pay attention to how and when to leave the venue to cross the flowing river twixt venue and town.

See you soon

Julian

For those who want to, either because they are riding down on the Friday from the Midlands or further north, or because you can, we've arranged a meet-up at the 'local' Morini Dealer, Mid-West Motors at Stourport on Severn.

We'll aim to be there from 2:30 and leave around 3:30 to arrive on site at Lower Lode at 4:30 (the bar should be open soon afterwards...). The route south will be via the western fringe of Worcester and the B4211 via Upton on Severn which comes out to the west of Tewkesbury on the A438. From there we drop down to the venue at Lower Lode.

Mid-West are expecting us and tea of coffee, plus the possibility of Bacon Baps, will be on offer at their small cafe. Find them at http://www.midwestmoto.co.uk/mm-carsaro - and excuse their spelling of Pirate...

If you are riding up from the south (Julian, Nick...), try coming up via Burford and the A424 towards Stow on the Wold. If you've time, take the Evesham road, swing around the north of Worcester and meet us at Mid-West; if not, take the B4077 and ride westwards past Toddington and the Gloucester Warwickshire Railway to Tewkesbury and over the Severn and down to the site. Both routes offer great views and engaging rides...

See some of you a week Friday...

CC

On the Saturday there will be a ride out to The Classic Motor Hub at Bibury for coffee. The route will take in some of the Cotswolds around Bourton on t' Water will be about 65 miles in total (from campsite to campsite). Ride time about 2.5'hours, so a nice nimble.

Check out http://www.classicmotorhub.com and bring your chequebook. I like the Guzzi and the DB5.

I'll provide a home for any surplus Morinis, Once you've bought the Guzzi and DB5, surely you'll have no further need (and certainly no space at home) for a tired old pushrod V twin :P

Huge thanks to the organisers for a great weekend. The location was perfect with camping on the river bank. Highlights : The walk into Tewkesbury on the Saturday morning to the cafe chocolat; laps of the field on the Corsaro and Corsarino on Single Sunday.
Thanks
Mark and Clare

Ditto, thank you to the organisers. I particularly enjoyed our pootle into the countryside to visit the expensive vehicle showroom that also serves hot drinks and cake. Riding on the minor roads (apart from the insane hill start part way through the outbound ride) was great fun and it was great to see how we generally managed to keep together and re-form into a gaggle as and when traffic interjected.

My 41-year old 3 1/2 behaved exceedingly well until I got caught in a downpour in my home town where it grumbled a little. Nonetheless it managed around 275 miles and I've since cleaned it, done the chain tension, etc. It's ready for the next ride later this week!

Hope to see many of you at the track day.

Julian

It was a really enjoyable event at a venue I'm sure we'll return to. (Now I know which side of the Severn the Lower Lode is on). Thanks to everyone who came and helped make it such a good rally.

...and for rides out, go West, young man. Some brilliant riding country on the borders of Cymru...

A good do and with the exception of the M5 section a good early ride back. Straight up the lane and no turning. A few too many speed cameras on the road down to the bridge but some nice scenery.I noted Corse Lawn ( of course) and it’s hotel as I went along.....

I'll second that, and even better if you venture deeper into that marvellous country. Sorry I couldn't make it, but long distances and old bones can't do it any more.

The hill start on the run out was indeed a bit 'interesting' - particularly for those with 2LS front brakes which don't work well when rolling backwards, but nobody came to grief :)

A belated big thank you to all involved in organising the event.
