Morini Events at the 2015 Classic TT

Post by corsaro chris »

For all those going to the Island (that's Isle of Man, turn west at Liverpool...); 8)

Lifted from ATG back in May, with a little editing;

Sunday 30th August; MRC Meeting at the Highlander (10:30, all Morini Riders invited, Club members or not…); followed by a ride along to the VMCC Festival at Jurby with MRC Members aiming to ride in towards noon. The Highlander is where it all started in 1975 for the Club - find it about a mile after Crosby if you're riding around the Course (in a clockwise direction - as recommended by the old salts).

Tuesday 1st September; VMCC display at the Tynwald in the late morning; Italian Rally at Port Erin station in the early evening; MRC Meeting on the sea front (lower level, by the beach!) in the early afternoon - I'd suggest opposite the cafe!

Wednesday 2nd September; MRC evening in Douglas – curry evening, time and venue probably announced at Port Erin meeting…

Thursday 3rd September; MRC Meeting at the Guard House Café at the new Motor Museum, Jurby, 2:30 (subject to confirmation)

There are also some races going on somewhere, so be sure to catch some of the action while you're there! :lol:

Good riding,

CC

I'm just looking for my bucket and spade to see if they'll fit in the panniers. Should be a great week, and I'll finally get to see the Isle of Man.

Seen it often but only touched it once!

BTW for a tax haven with tons of money the roads are apalling. Adjust the suspension to soft and take a cushion!

Not yet (parking at the Highlander, that is); I'm still working on that.

Plan B might be to have a steak there on Thursday rather than a curry in Douglas... I'll post confirmation later in the week, hopefully!

Looking forward to meeting up with you all at (or near) the Highlander. I have vivid memories of taking shelter there during the awful downpours of TT week 1998 when it was still a pub. We had extended lunchtimes there, spinning out time until it looked like the monsoon had lifted. Hopefully we'll get some decent weather to set things off, a bit like my last trip to the Island in 2013 for the Manx GP / 1st classic TT.

Hi Ben;

We'll look forward to meeting you on the Tuesday - look out for the 4m high Morini banners on the sea front at Port Erin (lower level, down by the beach...).

The Highlander meeting is at 10:30 on the Sunday - might you be over for that? and it looks like the Steak House has now closed, so that's goodbye to Plan C - which was to have a steak there instead of a curry on the Thursday...

Good riding,

Perhaps we'll see some of you again next year?

Indeed a most enjoyable and memorable week. Perhaps not next year for me. I really am running out of new places to go on The Island. See you at the 50th ;)

Good week and was good to meet you on the few events I made it to - my bike made more events than I did but that was because I was off with Don on the Triumph. :D

What a wonderful few days on the island
The weather was unbelievable
shame I missed the highlander meet but I had starting problems (it was sunday morning so i will let you draw your own conclusion )
Anyway bumped into some of the gang up at jurby which was a top day out
Good race day monday
Then tues a top breakfast in peel and met up in port erin with the gang
Nice to see familiar faces and meet new people
Then to Douglas to sit in the grandstand
Then to ride the morini round the course
Doesn't get much better than that
Shame we missed the curry night but we had to leave but as its a modest tent probably for the best
See you all next year
