I will let you know when I have gone ahead, having d/w the chap in bristol. I may wait until August then I can time it in with a holiday. The bike seems to start more reliably on the kickstart now I have cleaned and tuned the fuel pathway. As I sometimes use the kill switch to stop the engine(becaus...

Hi I have only had a 350 for a month-my key can be turned one click clockwise where upon the ignition light is on and every other circuit is live. My lights then operate using the handlebar switch.I can select side or main from this handlebar switch. If I return the key to its original position and ...

Hi Jem thanks for that info, I will get in touch with them. I know the road as I used to use it when en route from my former home in (dare I mention the name, Swindon) to Ashley Down Polytechnic in about 1457 on my A65. I will need to investigate removal of an interestingly edged nut retaining the F...

I put a multimeter between earth and the green lead from the alternator and got 186ohms so I guess that may be my problem. The insulated cover on the spade end obligingly fell off in 2 pieces.
Read a bit about rewinding the thing myself but will see how that pans out.

Clutch adjustment

Always questions ....up at 6 to work on the bike. Its either very good or very bad. I have removed the clutch actuation arm ,cleaned everything up and replaced it. There was a slight wear mark but I did not think it looked significant( having never seen one before). However it seems all to easy for t...

Reluctant starting

I find that the bike,a K of 82 vintage is often reluctant to fire up from the starter motor, and the kickstart from cold but will immediately run from a roll on the hill, where it then runs OK. I have tried with one or both choke levers up.I have so far cleaned the carbs and fuel pathway, though not b...

I used fell on my preceeding 8 British bikes by which time I had it about right. Still I am endeavouring to use my trusty Norbar wrench at similar but slightly less settings to equivalent sized bolts he teutonic beast. It's all good fun though.

Looks lovely-I have the K1 type with the black rather than chrome theme. Not sure if I have settled with no chrome but I will keep it as it was intended.I have been trying to get all the cabling and hydraulic pipework routed correctly so all these photo's are a help. Are the chrome strips on the tan...

I just did my oil for the 1st time. The sump plug was some kind of steel, rather than brass of a non metric size around 20mm. I had an Imperial socket that did the job.No rubber, copper of fibre washer just a big flange/washer on the plug. Bit gritty so I cleaned the threads . Did oil filter(why does ...

Tank now done and no leaks, though the bottom edges have a black plastic trim which looks suspiciously like a rust trap to me so filled the channel up with waxoyl before replacing them. I have cable tied up all the wiring separately from the control cables and with a combination of heatshrink and pe...

Hi Simon- I am sorry that I beat you to the draw.It doesn't happen much on Ebay these days, not that I have attempted to buy anything other than BMW bits and clothing in the past. Having just lost my virginity a couple of weeks ago I am still in a sort of daze, wondering if I liked it or not. I have s...

Thanks for that. Not sure if they are the same either as yet. I have locked the offending casting into a block of epoxy in a bodge-bid to keep it together for now.

Rear Crankcase breather pipe

What is the correct route for the large diameter crankcase breather pipe which emerges to the rear of the engine.
Also I have a crack in the clutch lever pivot handlebar assembly. Do I assume this will be an expensive item to replace.Anyone got a spare?
