Re: Do I have an ignition problem

Might be better to try to find a "known good" stator. Not easy, as those that have them on the shelf in a shed are probably hanging on to them.

Just possible I have one I don't need, will search and test.

Re: Do I have an ignition problem

"When I tested resistance it was 129ohms it's now 470ohms well over the 300ohms specification."

I think Mark may be correct in diagnosing that the resistance is too high (assuming West Country Windings have rewound it in a similar way).

Perhaps 'resistive heat' is just cooking the winding?

Re: gearing

What Steve said. I have spare rocker gear. It might just be in need of rings on the bad cylinder, though in my experience they will run surprisingly well with at least the oil control rings in multiple pieces. was there much coming out of the crankcase breather ?

Re: Leaking Clutch Oil Seal

Sorry about the late reply and update to this. I decided to remove the clutch casing and primary drive, and replaced all seals including the main seal. I took great care to fit the new main clutch seal (a quality, double lipped Viton type) before refitting the casing assembly with primary drive alr...

2023 AGM

Thanks to all involved in organising another splendid event. I bottled out of the 180 mile ride in 30 degree heat and towed the 2C/375 on the Motolug behind my campervan. It didn't disgrace itself by refusing to start, particularly when hot to come back from the run. Sorry such a non-standard machin...

Re: Jetting issue?

The crankcase earths via the engine mountings to some extent, but at least on my 250 there is a lead from a bolt in the frame to one of the crankcase bolts. I have made the earth leads from the transducers join the same position on the frame but that is not so practical on a 350 where the transducer...

Re: Strada Headlamp bracket straps

God to hear they were compatible. The 250 ones seem to have different part numbers so I did wonder. Then it may be with my memory that they actually camre from a 350.

Re: Jetting issue?

That's the way I do it. I thought more towards 50v was desirable, but if it has already been rewound and the rotor has good magnetism hard to see why output might be low. Have you got a dedicated earth leaf from the frame to as crankcase through bolt? Also worth checking the earth points for the tra...

Re: Connecting Carbtune Manometer to Inlet Manifold

Dulcinea wears Polini filters and I´ve cought them with stainless steel stripes > manifolds last a lot longer than on Rocinante with the 350 air box. If you don´t catch the carbs using pot filters, you´ll be in trouble for sure! I really must try the Pollini elbows/filters again. I still have them ...

Re: Connecting Carbtune Manometer to Inlet Manifold

If would prefer drilling. If you use a 5 mm drill, the hole in the rubber will be quite less than that 5 mm. It will be dificult to enter a M5 screw or adapter. But it will seal very well. I don´t remember well but think that at the end I had to use a bigger drill than the thread of the adapter :wi...

Re: Connecting Carbtune Manometer to Inlet Manifold

Can you buy those plugs anywhere these days? Since I changed the idle jets, treated it to new Iridium plugs and checked the carb balance mine is idling very well. Perhaps a bit fussy to start when hot (1 size too far on pilot?) but I'm learning the required technique and it warms up much quicker in ...

Re: Connecting Carbtune Manometer to Inlet Manifold

Aha. That photo reveals some incipient cracking of the rubber. Almost certainly due to having no air filter box, S&B cone filters and big zip ties to take the strain. One day I will get some proper high tech supports made. Then I dare say this set of rubbers will "see me out" ;)

Re: Connecting Carbtune Manometer to Inlet Manifold

A picture is worth 1000 words. Definitely M5 - drill hole smaller than you would for tapping in to metal though. I find 'close but no cigar' by ear and feel. Good enough for sure, but when you get those carbtune columns dipping together perfectly given a whiff of throttle I reckon you can feel the d...

Bridgnorth Italian Auto Moto Festival 2023 September 10th

Unfortunately this event clashes with the MRC AGM weekend this year. Scaled down apparently (who needs to see 70 scooters ;) ). Also now a £10 entry fee to display a machine. A jolly good day to go and look at Lamborghinis though, or chat to other Italian bike enthusiasts. Details seem to be only pr...
