Re: Morini Meetings 2011
Hi Søren, No offence intended (or indeed taken) at the 'pointy' comments! Yes I know last year we had some unfortunate clashes and I truly hope that in 2011 and beyond we can enjoy morini meetings on an international scale. I'm glad that for 2011 we have managed to avoid clashes- in truith we don't ...

Yes Chris, I'm up for that...
Should easily break the 5 dart record. The midlands is obviously a dart hotspot for some reason- Chris, Christine, Alan, me, les and Chris skinner, to name just the ones I know...

Re: Which tyres?
Just read your other posts christine- Throttle cable routing on darts is important- if you could post some pics that may help? No point me sending pics of mine as i've got different bars, forks, engine & airbox! Rev hangup on return to idle is a common fault on darts- see my other post on the fo...

Re: Which tyres?
Christine, Well that tyre combo gives the game away- sounds like your bike is one of my old darts (there have been a few!) An odd tyre choice which I swore by for a few years- my first dart had these fitted and I thought handled great on the road and at cadwell. I can't comment whether I still agree...

Re: photo needed?
Twisty- Regarding the 'bodge non standard connector' -if you are talking about the 'chocolate block' type connector under the pillion seat- this is supposed to be there believe it or not. I agree that connectors like this have no place on a motor vehicle but this was one of the warranty updates. My ...

Re: Fuel taps??
Ah that explains it! Your electric tap has been replaced with a manual one in the front!
You should only need to use one tap anyway so leave the front tap off and use the rear one (just not in the res position until you need it otherwise you'll run out of fuel!)

Re: newbie & piston rings/ big end shells
Hi Andy, Yes the roller conversion is for the alternator side main bearing (which as standard is a plain shell mounted in a carrier which bolts into the cases. You need no crankcase mods for this other than to plug the 3 bolt holes (I had mine welded up) and then you get the crank ground to suit. I ...

thermostat, have you checked? Exactly. Dave, we can only help if you answer our questions, so; Do the thermostat and coolant temp sensor work properly? Physically check the thermostat and while you're at it stick the coolant temp sensor in a cup of boiling water and check that the ambient and boili...

Re: Update
Dave, what exactly do you mean when you say the ECU is showing a faulty cooling fan? If there is a coolant circuit fault (temp sensor faulty, broken thermostat etc) then the ECU will read either an incorrect temperature, or it will diagnose a fault. If the coolant temperature is wrong, not known or ...

Re: Is it worth it, and what's it worth?
Alex, Firstly welcome to the forum, and thank you for your interest in Moto Morini, particularly at these difficult times. You are wise to be asking these questions but it's great that you've not dismissed possibility of owning a Morini at the moment. If more people out there had the same attitude a...

Re: Dart valve seats
I don't know that there was anything different about the dart valve seats, but in any case you'll find that the collective morini wisdom says that morinis are pretty kind to their valve seats and using unleaded on the standard seats just isn't an issue. It's certainly never been a problem in my many...

Yeah Steve, bring the Scott
In my experience thrashing a Morini around Cadwell doesn't do any more harm to new bearings than thrashing it around Southern England. I think I've done it twice to no ill effects (actually now I type that I can see the connection)

Re: WTD... Red ignition pick up
Raptor,
Only just seen this post- sorry!
I do have a spare red pickup if you still need one. I had it rebuilt by George lane a couple of years ago and sold my sport before I fitted it, so it should be as good (probably better actually) as new.
Let me know if you are interested...
