Just a little info that might help if you can't get the real thing, and that is that Powerhouse.uk do nice stainless pistons for some Brembo calipers, and they are good people to deal with, trying very hard to satisfy customers.

Re: Back in the saddle
Hi Painter, When it comes to the GP, you De Man! Sadly, I'm 4" shorter than you, but I already have various bikes that cover the GP slot, though not necessarily all in one. My Duke ST4 is a great distance bike, the Gran Canyon with a soft Ducati 900 motor is a comfortable upright bike I adore, ...

Re: Back in the saddle
Good luck with your efforts and methodical approach. At least with the valve clearances you've found some problems but, as you say, there may be others. That bike ought to be brilliant, particularly for someone with longer legs than me. The only downside to it might be the fuel consumption but you s...

Re: Back in the saddle
Excellent result Painter, and I agree with your view of the industry. I guess the tech-savvy and tech-dependant market prompts all the electronic rubbish, plus the constant push for more power that gets riders into trouble. Bah, humbug!!

Re: Won't turn over after winter rest
Take the spark plugs out and try turning it over. Leaky fuel tap and float can drain the tank into the engine... If you have a cylinder and sump full of fuel you should do an oil change too. And if there is real resistance, don't force it because if what Tom has suggested is right, you'll have a hy...

Re: New Dart fuel tanks
Even if the plastic tanks don't spring a leak, maybe from the air-filter bushing like mine did, they may eventually decompose from alcohol and subsequently block the idle jets. I've had that on several old Cagiva bikes, to which the Darts are related of course. A spiffing alloy tank would be nice if...

Re: fuel line
Funny old business; having to have the old green fuel pipe. To me, it looks as nasty as having lashings of red hermetite all over the engine casings, but maybe history-of-the-piece sticklers would go for that too? For fuel pipe, I go for opaque black stuff without reinforcement because it is ...

Re: Capless idiot light bulb size
Just a follow-up thought: do we assume that the fitting of extra LED driving lights like those invariably attached to BMW GS bikes (and aimed for maximum aggravation to other drivers) are exempt from the regulations? I guess if you don't turn them on during the MOT test, no-one will complain. Perhap...

Re: Capless idiot light bulb size
That's bad news about the MOT regulations, but I wonder how strictly they will be applied, especially as regards bikes? I've run a HID H4 in my '85 Alazzurra for a good 15 years and it has never been questioned. As it happens, that particular HID bulb is the only one of several installations that ha...

Re: Capless idiot light bulb size
Hi John, What’s an MOT? joking apart, although my Morini is now MOT exempt, I have been using LED bulbs in my headlight for 5 years both on the Morini and on my Matchless. My local MOT test station is very very strict and has never failed the Morini for using one. I have changed both bikes to the m...

Re: moto morini scrambler tail bag
Just as well our internet went down when this was posted, as I'd have had a hard time resisting it. Never mind that my beloved reminds me that I remove all such items from any bike I acquire! I wonder why Morini thought such a thing was useful for the Scrambler? So far as I can see, the tail-piece i...

Re: Memories
. Having said that, I'm looking forward to my first ride on the 'new' to me bike. Another '250', but this time a 1937 Sunbeam Model 14 Sports. Power should be a little morethan the 175, but it is a lot heavier, so progress will be 'stately'. Which, with rigid frame, girder forks and only 'tobacco t...

He's right, of course! Not that I'd suggest a BSA Bantam was as much fun as you could get on two wheelsNick But if you consider a BSA Bantam's chassis, suspension and brakes coupled to the handful (max) of Horses available, it becomes a whole new experience! Not to forget: Harvey Williams.j...

Re: Idiot lights
Well, I certainly can't compete with Norbert's amazing electrickery, but here are the wiring details of the additional indicator warning LED I mentioned. The LEDs themselves are 5mm 12V red ones with integral resistors and the additional diodes are basic 50V 1A type, both easily findable on ebay/uk....
