Sorted.
Ignition off.
Press and hold dash button whilst switching on ignition.
Dash opens with set up menu.
Toggle through menu to 'service'.
Press and hold dash button to reset service spanner symbol.
Release button and switch off ignition.
Job done.

Service light.
My 2010 Scrambler has the spanner symbol showing on the dash which I presume is the service indicator as it has got just over 6k miles on it. So if I do a service on it myself how do I get rid of this symbol, or is it a dealer only thing?

Over the last 8 years we've done 53k miles on a BMW1200GS most of which have been 2 up and overloaded with camping gear all over Europe and Morocco.
