Re: Surflex or Newfren clutch

I've only ever seen the Surflex as fitted originally. They are good and last well. I bought a set for the V twins not long ago and was pleased with the results. The set contained steel plates including the dished one which is important for a decent clutch action.

Re: Do I have an ignition problem

The plate Mark refers to above is a right angled piece of metal that look like a bracket to us uneducated types. It works by magic to stop the voltage produced by that coil. Yours is missing and as you said earlier your new coil was 470 ohms! So it was always likely to cause trouble and burn out eit...

Re: Electric Starter parts needed

I have a few of those-if you definitely mean the older cast type and not the laminated ones? No idea what post from UK would be. I found with some used examples of these that the pivot holes were worn, hard to see by eye but easy to detect by rattle! The pivot posts wear too of course. In the end I ...

Re: Tre mezzo and 500 section

I prefer the status quo. I've seen other forums divided up as you suggest and I find them too 'bitty'. I check the 350 and 500 sections along with the Green laners as those are where my interest lie. If you really think you can improve things there is an opening for another volunteer to work the for...

Re: No spark on either cylinders

First off, the fuses as originally wired have no connection with the ignition system. The ignition (if standard) is self generating, basically an electronic magneto. First thing I'd suggest is to disconnect the green wire that goes to the ignition switch. The engine is switched off by earthing this ...

Re: Swinging arm grease points

There should be a grease nipple each side. If not in the centre of the swing arm pivot then on the swing arm itself feeding in from the outside. On the left it's usually moved inside because the exhaust pipe is in the way.

MORE Trail Riding!

I'm out riding again next Thursday 10th August with a couple of mates. We're heading into the Derbyshire Peak District for a route I've done once before. It's around 76 miles start to finish, all do-able by Kanguro or Camel and taking in some of the areas finest scenery. I will be leading from a sec...

Re: Trail riding!

Great looking Camel! Hope your Italian adventure works out too. As for popping over here, why not? Sometime soon we will be arranging another Morini trail group ride and we'd be glad to host you. I have a good enough knowledge of my area, between Northamptonshire and the Derbyshire Peak district to ...

Re: Moto Morini Corsarino 48cc for sale.

Well done Jenny! I wasn't so lucky with my bikes. maybe I should try to look/act/dress a bit less like Arthur Daley? Another Morini sold there as well-the really nicely restored Corsaro 125, for £4000 apparently. This time next year etc. Does anyone know if the black 500 sold too? I meant to ask how...

Trail riding!

Hi all, as nothing has been posted here for a while I'll just mention that I'm out on the lanes this week. Thursday morning in East Leicestershire if you're interested. I'm planning to take the Camel for a gentle trundle through our favourite lanes and a couple of new ones (to me) as well. Currently...

Re: H4 bulbs can I swap for an LED bulb

Thanks Steve I will put an order in for a new H4 LEB bulb from Paul Goff plus an LED tail/stop bulb. Be aware of my experience with the rear ones. As they shine directly at the back of the reflector, I found that due to the nature of LEDs, I was getting little or no light off to the sides and preci...

Re: Sump plug

Good to meet you at the weekend Christine, if you haven't found a car type sump plug already I will have a usable spare original here somewhere. One advantage of knowing the thread size as supplied above, is that you can also look around for a magnetic replacement too. Also ref the Warks section mee...

Re: H4 bulbs can I swap for an LED bulb

Also have a look at Paul Goff’s site http://www.norbsa02.freeuk.com/ My Sport should have had the rectangular light but that came as a spare, the bike being fitted with the concave Cibie unit. The only longish night riding I have done was in very dark France and it performed well. At present it is ...

Re: Jetting issue?

Many thanks Steve- I will check float heights, lower needle height (needles not worn I don't think) and re strobe timing as I have moved it without re checking. I will then try no air filters if these adjustments don't improve things. best Matt It's usually the needle JETS that wear rather than the...

Re: idiot lights

Another occasional oil pressure worry is when the castellated nut on the primary drive gear is not fully tight. The drive gear is keyed to the crank but just next to it and held by it too is the drive worm to the oil pump (and this bit is NOT keyed!). The large nut needs to be tight. Properly tight...
