Re: gearing

Sorry I can't explain the dots or be sure about the number 2. I would personally disregard the dots as either damage from debris in the past or some previous owners marking to keep parts from a particular cylinder together. The spring under the oil ring is as you've read, only for older type pistons...

Re: Corsaro oil pumps

Jenny, my new pump was from B&B. It was spot on. I have spoken with the owner on the phone and he has a later engine with side points. Sounds like it's a lot faster than mine too!

Re: Corsaro oil pumps

Yes, all accessable in the primary cover. Mine sounded fine to but it was surviving on splash lube. The pump was stuck solid and the teeth on its drive gear had stripped too. I suspect a 63 would be 9mm but it's easy to strip it and confirm. Then again, from what you've told me I think your engine i...

Re: Do I have an ignition problem

Look on thr Dutch Morini site for a diy coil rewind. Not difficult, a bit tedious, I doubt the old coil former is salvageable. ah Ming you are very modest, this splendid article is exactly what the O.P would need to rewind the bobbin. The antique grinder a stroke of genius. Based on that I think th...

Re: 1963 ish Corsaro rear brake return spring

Hi Jenny, ref the stand spring, on mine it does work on the stand as well as the brake pedal. I was struggling to work out where it hooked to until it all just sort of became clear while giving it a hard stare. If I can get a picture I'll try to show how it goes.

Re: gearing

Oh dear, that isn't sounding positive. I will have a spare valve adjuster assuming your rockers etc are ok-mind you, I might have rockers to spare too. Don't get too despondent, these engines are fairly easily worked on and fixed if you can find the parts. And the parts are mostly available too. Let...

Re: H4 bulbs can I swap for an LED bulb

That's a surprise and obviously a disappointment too. Mine is really rather good but in a round headlamp without any adaptor bits needed. Tom, if you are retiring your daylighter I'd be happy to try it in my bikes, in the interests of research obvs. I can try in the Camel rectangular lamp and variou...

Re: 1963 ish Corsaro rear brake return spring

Hi Mark, yes the return spring is fitted around the stand pivot tube. If you have a good look at the parts list I sent you it should become clear-that's how I worked it out!

Re: Surflex or Newfren clutch

I've only ever seen the Surflex as fitted originally. They are good and last well. I bought a set for the V twins not long ago and was pleased with the results. The set contained steel plates including the dished one which is important for a decent clutch action.

Re: Do I have an ignition problem

The plate Mark refers to above is a right angled piece of metal that look like a bracket to us uneducated types. It works by magic to stop the voltage produced by that coil. Yours is missing and as you said earlier your new coil was 470 ohms! So it was always likely to cause trouble and burn out eit...

Re: Electric Starter parts needed

I have a few of those-if you definitely mean the older cast type and not the laminated ones? No idea what post from UK would be. I found with some used examples of these that the pivot holes were worn, hard to see by eye but easy to detect by rattle! The pivot posts wear too of course. In the end I ...

I prefer the status quo. I've seen other forums divided up as you suggest and I find them too 'bitty'. I check the 350 and 500 sections along with the Green laners as those are where my interest lie. If you really think you can improve things there is an opening for another volunteer to work the for...

Re: No spark on either cylinders

First off, the fuses as originally wired have no connection with the ignition system. The ignition (if standard) is self generating, basically an electronic magneto. First thing I'd suggest is to disconnect the green wire that goes to the ignition switch. The engine is switched off by earthing this ...
