Re: Camel - Rear Drum
I think that might be a common problem. My own Camel rear drum is the same. Near here is another Camel owner who has found exactly the same. Maybe a lining material/drum material mis-match? Mine is too deep to turn out (I think, anyway) so I will use it as it is and monitor the problem.

Re: 350 airbox differences
By the way, on the subject of fuel, I had assumed that with a CR of 11:1, 97 octane fuel or higher would be essential to avoid pinking. However, having filled up the completely empty tank from the lawn mower can the other day, it ran absolutely fine and I couldn't even provoke pinking if I tried. Ma...

Re: Chains
Agree 40 mm would be too slack. I think it's best to sit on the bike applying as much of your body weight as you can, and then get the mate you asked round earlier to check the chain slack. Or better still, when feeling really anally retentive I find the tightest part of the chain run and remove the...

Re: 350 airbox differences
What are the numbers M 173-7019? As Steve said, breather connections. Though I'm not sure if the later boxes were otherwise identical? These are a significantly different shape though or perhaps this is the 500 version? http://www.obsoletebikeparts.com/a-28246218/frame-parts/moto-morini-350-500-fil...

Re: 350 airbox differences
Your presumption is spot on! The later air boxes had inlets there for breather pipes led from the main breather chamber. Emissions regs and all that stuff. So just block 'em off as you say.

Re: Chains
Hi Joe, yes 530 or 5/8 x 3/8 is the standard, no room for 'O' ring type chain though unless you convert to 520. If there's no corrosion externally I doubt it would be inside either. If it were then you would get a rusty stain leaking out when it is ridden. Regina is fine in my mind too along with mo...

Re: Valve Clearances – Camel.
The odd one out must be a replacement after some distant past repair. If the profile of the contact end is ok then fine, but they are not rare parts and it would be nice to have four the same I think? Anyone who has been messing with Morinis for a while will likely have some lying around. So will NLM.

Re: CAMSHAFT REMOVAL
I'd go along with Pauls' advice here but replace the ball/roller bearings while you're in there. They are very cheap compared to the shells and more likely to need changing. Go for good quality bearings with decent cages, it seems some recent (and ancient ;-) ) failures have more to do with collapsi...

Re: Time to get the K2 out of the naughty corner
I'd agree the Dellorto option will be less problematic. I did fit a pair of Mikunis to my 350 a couple of years ago when I could only find worn out Dellortos. I have now reverted to a pair of Dellortos from a Kanguro and the bike is running better than it has in years. I got the Mikunis fairly close...

Re: CAMSHAFT REMOVAL
Yes, take the belt pulley off and the locking but on the other end allows you to take the ignition rotor off then the pick up stator plate. Then when the crankcases are apart the cam can be removed. Don't forget there are two dowel tubes in the crankcase mounting lugs , fore and aft, along with one ...

Re: First Questions - Camel
I've never seen cam or tappet wear in a Morini engine either. I'd guess too that American V8s are hardly worth comparing them with? Different kettles of fish etc. As for 'how to' videos, they are there for good reasons too. I've watched plenty and found them variously helpful and dangerously useless...

Re: Welcome new forum members - introduce yourself
Hello folks - new boy signing in ... I bought my first Morini just yesterday - it is a 500 cc Camel. Stuff I know so far: Imported in 1999 and dated as an '81. It is a twin shock but with disc brake at the front. Kick start only and with a 6 speed gearbox. I have a whole lot of invoices for work do...

Ahh! Now I understand why your mobile is switched off George. Ignore the message from me about being at Stafford, I was hoping to get in touch with Mike (Mickymoto) ref the fuel tank.Chips1953 wrote:Colombres Rally 2016.
