Does anyone know where I can get a replacement rear hugger?
Mine caught the frame while riding two-up (I know, I know...) and has suffered a bit of damage

Re: Poor starting from cold
Update 2: it wasn't the carb. It was fuel starvation! It turns out the fuel intake at the bottom of the tank was blocked with crud. I hadn't realised because the bike was running fine - until I took it out yesterday and it coughed to a halt. I had to nurse it home on one (very starved!) cylin...

Re: Poor starting from cold
I agree - though (surprisingly) the carbs were spotless inside. I couldn't see anything in the choke jet, but it could easily have been a bit of unleaded gunge that wasn't visible.
Anyway, it's fixed now...

Re: Poor starting from cold
That makes sense - I couldn't see what the point was of the o-ring!

All fixed now!
I stripped the rear carb and found a perished o-ring at the base of the choke jet: Replaced with a new o-ring and it now starts fine from cold:

Re: Poor starting from cold
Quick update: everything seems to be in order with the carbs and choke mechanism. The o-ring at the top of the choke puller is in good order and everything seems to be clean. It is slightly easier to start if I manually operate the choke on the front carb, but even with both chokes there's no fast i...

Poor starting from cold
My Dart is a pig to start from cold. It feels like the choke lever isn't having much effect. The carbs are balanced, the mixture & timing is set and the bike runs perfectly once it's started. It appears that the choke lever only works on the rear carb. Is this right? Where do I need to start? I ...

Re: Sticky starter
Update: the starter mechanism is now working fine. It's very nicely engineered.
The parts manual is helpful for showing how it all goes back together.
The rubber cush was in good order. It just needed the sprag clutch cleaning and re-greasing.

Air filter replacement
Is the Dart air filter a commonly available size, or is it unique to the Dart?

Re: Sticky starter
Ah thank you, that manual is much better - I hadn't noticed it before.
It's clear from the pictures in there how to access the starter clutch.

Re: Sticky starter
Brilliant, thanks Tom!
It's the sprag clutch that's sticky. I wasn't sure if it ran in engine oil or dry: you've confirmed that it runs in the oil.
I just gave it an oil change, so I'll give it a run out first and see if the issue clears up. If not, it looks easy enough to dismantle...

Sticky starter
When it's cold, the starter on my bike doesn't always engage properly. It presumably just needs cleaning/lubrication. Is this an easy job on a Dart? The starter is on the front, which is different to what's shown in the blue service manual. I'm not sure where the sprag clutch is and the Dart manual ...
