nice picture of the fuel tanks ,
I never noticed, apparently Morini did the same as Guzzi , they changed the direction of the filler cap.
early caps flip forwards, later flip backwards.
the later setup was considered safer for the rider during a accident.
I wonder when they made the change...

Re: new toy
sounds like your carbs are a good candidate for another ultrasonic clean.
the worst carbs i ever had were from a Aprilia pegaso, those drove me mad, impossible to set them up.
I eventually got them clean by soaking them in acetone for a week.

Re: Added a Strada to the project list
nice start for a project bike!
somebody already spent some money on alloy rims and new spokes.
the original chrome rims corrode as soon as they get wet.

Re: 500W carb questions
check the gearing , the 500 has a tall gearing , the 5 speed box is pretty similar as the 350 six speeder , with the 500 first gear pretty much the same as the 350 second gear. if you dont run on highways all the time , a couple of teeth extra on the rear sprocket actually improves the top speed of ...

Re: Rear master cylinder replacement
you might have a look on aliexpress , they list pretty similar master cylinders for a couple of euro... could be worth checking the dimensions (ex, look for zx7 brake cylinder) i have good experiences with these chinese brake cylinders https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/32826060945.html?spm=a2g0o.produc...

A moto guzzi voltmeter is easy to find, and should provide the same info.

Re: Bikes for sale
Nice collection of parts, could make a nice 350 sport and strada and enough spare parts to run them for a couple of years.
Tempting, but I'm going to pass on this one, I've got enough morini's to last my lifetime....

Re: 500W carb questions
I asked the previous owner how he figured out the Mikuni jetting?? He told me he emailed Sudco Mikuni and they asked for the type of motor (V twin 4 stroke, push rod heron head), the horespower and weight of the bike and SUDCO reccommended a carb size and shipped them jetted to their design, they j...

Re: 500W carb questions
Mikuni's are stupidly cheap, i have a set of 34 mm Chinese made mikuni's on my guzzi.
A set of new mikuni's was cheaper than changing the dellorto floats.

Re: Front brake calliper pistons (stainless steel)
Just polish out the ridges.
I dont think you need to change the fluids,
I have been using homemade stainless brake pistons for years, never had corrosion issues.

Re: camel gearing
i do have a 500 5 speed primary gear set in the pile of parts somwhere, doing 75 MPH on mine is not going to happen , by that time the valves are close to bouncing i think the rev limiter on the camel is set to 8500 rpm, i can rev it to see where it stops, but honestly my 350 with 38/14 gearing feel...

hi ,
Gearing on my camel is stock 14/46 ( actually the sprockets are still the originals)
apparently i might go back to 14/44 but the difference is pretty marginal...

camel gearing
Hi all,
anyone managed to fit a taller gearing to a 1980 500 camel?
i took the camel on a camping trip, but sitting a 90 km/h is pretty boring.
i am used to running the 350 at 110 km/h, but the 350 feels like having a taller gearing
