Productive Day

Well that was a productive day. Replaced rear rocker cover gasket, I thought I had a bit of a leak but the old gasket still looked in good condition. Will have to wait and see if the leak is cured. Whilst I was at it, an oil change and cleaned the filter. Checked condition of air filters, filthy so ...

Re: Carb Mixture Screw

Thanks to everyone for their advice and Paul's great YouTube films. I have replaced the o-rings on both the mixture screws and throttle stops and upped idle speed to between 1600 and 1900 and it's no longer stalling. Once I've given it a good run I'll readjust and see what happens, now I know what I...

Re: Carb Mixture Screw

OK a bit more time fettling reveals that there are no o-rings on the mixture screws, adjusting from 1.5 turns out to 2 turns out doesn't seem to make any difference and there is a split in the elbow from the air box to the carb. It's been taped over but it's by the jubilee clip on the carb side.

Re: Carb Mixture Screw

Thanks for the suugestions/tips etc. I had been told that the carbs had been sonically cleaned before I purchased the bike and I haven't messed around with them too much. The mixture screws were set approx 1 turn out and the engine revs drop to 1050 - 1100 and then stalls. This is with no throttle i...

Carb Mixture Screw

I am currently trying to adjust the carbs on a 1980 350 Strada as it has an annoying tenancy to stall at idle. The carbs are VHBZ 25s. I have squirted some carb cleaner down the idle circuit which seems to have helped a bit. My question is what is the standard number of turns out on the mixture scre...

Re: 350 electric start battery

I have just recently removed from a 1980 Strada a YB18L-A battery whose size was 160mm x 180mm x 87mm. You probably can't go much bigger than this. Personally I went for a smaller battery and padded the space out, mainly due to my local shop having one in.

A Light Query

A quick question before I start pulling things apart. Is there a bulb inside the 350 speedo? There's light in the rev-counter.
Cheers

Re: Mid-West Open Day 4th & 5th May

Chris, is that leave Midwest Moto at 15:30? So ideally get there earlier for a coffee?
See you Saturday.

Re: Insurance

Always worth shopping around and comparison sites, I had quotes ranging from £76 upwards. Mid 40's male, 1980 3 1/2, zero no claims bonus for this bike, 1 claim last year. You should be able to knock £20 off that quote if you can be ar*ed. It depends on whether you fancy an evening of getting insura...

Re: ZZ Heavily criticized in Performance Bikes

Hi Gary I must admit I would rather hear real world, real user experiences than a journalist who is paid to either wax lyrical or cause controversy. Looks wise, I like the ZZ and if the bean tin offends, then look from the other side. Do I take it from your list that you have purchased one? If so wh...
