Re: 501 camel carb jets
I couldn't get these particular carbs in the photo to work properly, and I had a set of NOS 501 carbs which i tried on the bike way back in 2005 which fixed the poor running. Unfortunately i didn't take note of the jet sizes and the NOS carbs ended up on another 501 so it could be sold. Anybody's be...

Re: how much difference between kanguro and strada engine?
thanks for that... i'll rebuild the kanga engine anyway and look at the differences as I go as I have another 350 road engine in pieces for comparison as well. BTW is there a simple way to distinguish between a strada and sport engine without looking at the naked pistons? I can drop a camera into th...

Re: kanguro carb sleeves
yep, that's what they look like, although they are acting as reducers - a clean up is needed to remove some sprags.

how much difference between kanguro and strada engine?
I've got a 350 strada/sport engine lying around doing nothing, and rather than a full rebuild of a 350 kanguro engine I may as well throw the unknown road engine in the kanguro and see if it runs... so, apart from the oil pressure switch hanging under the left engine side cover are there any reasons...

kanguro carb sleeves
My X1 kanguro has a black plastic sleeve (reducer?) in the carb on the manifold rubber side, as shown in the parts book - do I leave them in or take them out? What effect do they have on performance?

501 camel carb jets
All, I have a healthy spark on the 501, so now onto the carbs. I have a couple of sets of 28mm carbs, and I know the carbs that were fitted to the bike were this type in the pic below. Note the extra "jet hole" next to the choke jet (the carbs are date marked 1985) What is it for? and ther...

Re: 501 sidestand switch and potted gizmo
thanks, of course the horn is missing too, so that's where one red wire must have gone - so i can remove the plastic gizmo then - was it some kind if audible warning for the indicators? As I can't work out how the side stand switch disabled the bike from starting in the first instance, it means I sh...

501 sidestand switch and potted gizmo
last questions i hope... the 501camel has a side stand cut-out switch that i want to remove. It has 2 red wires running to it. The wires at the tank end are broken off and it is not possible to work out what they were originally plugged into. I'd like to bypass it in any case, so what terminals do i...

valentini twin muffler exhaust on an X1 kanguro
I saw pics of an X1 kanguro fitted with a valentini tank and a 2 into 2 exhaust similar in look to a 501 camel or 350 XE i suppose. Anyone tried to fit a rear cylinder exhaust pipe from one of those later bikes into the frame of an X1 to get a twin muffler system? or any pics of that valentini syste...

Re: 500 camel airbox
thanks guys for the pics, this airbox looks like it will fit the brackets, but i probably won't find one soon, so it may be pods as an interim. Is the same airbox fitted to all the 500s up to a certain year? my posts may be confusing - i am getting a 1985 501 camel, a 1983 500 camel and a 1983 kangu...

Re: 500 camel airbox
yes, postage, a down-side to living over here... i see there are plenty of 350 air filters on ebay, but no 500... are they harder to find? I lean toward the OEM setup as the bike is fully restored and otherwise correct, and the dust over here makes me wary of even those nice polini air filters with ...

500 camel airbox
Hi
I'd like a 500 airbox , specifically it is for a 2nd series Camel, but I am told any early 500 filter box will fit. I have the filter elements. Posted to Australia or Italy...
thanks

Re: 500 camel airbox
thanks, that sorts out the problem of why it doesn't fit... I have a couple of early 350 air boxes...pity, one is NOS and I can't use it.
Now I better look thru all the Morini parts to find an air box for the 350 kanguro - are pods an acceptable alternative if that is what I have to do?

500 camel airbox
All, my 500 camel (2nd type) is missing the air filter assembly. Is it the same as the 500 road bike? Any photos anyone? I have the plastic assembly with the 2 filters which is from a ??? Morini but it doesn't seem like it will mount in the space under the tank unless some brackets (I don't have) ar...
