Re: What have I lost?
Hi People, Just noticed this topic, and it brings back memories of my Dart. At least you can get to those nuts on the naked bikes. I had to make special tools for each exhaust stub because the chassis fit was so tight! I've not seen them since so I guess they went with the bike when I sold it, but t...

Re: Scrambler rear wheel nut torque
Thanks Chris, Yes, both the normal wheel-spindle spacers are present and correct. If they weren't, I suspect the whole wheel would have locked up and the bearings would be trashed because the spacers are way thicker than the clearance I'm asking about. If I do fit a shim, I'll need to assess which s...

Re: FRONT BRAKE Update
[quote="MickeyMoto"]My safety does not depend on a headlight. A headlight is for seeing and be seen when light conditions are not favourable. It is not ok to dazzle oncoming vehicles like a GS rider with LED spot lights. Just waiting for the first accident caused by a dazzled driver hittin...

Gruntmeister!
Had my first post-collection ride on the Scrambler today and was able to evaluate it without the stress of riding a new-to-me bike 100 miles home while suffering from a chronic sciatica condition that will hopefully be resolved soon. I'm most impressed with the power and flexibility of the soft-tune...

Re: FRONT BRAKE Update
Sorry, MickeyMoto snuck in while I was typing! Having asked my MOT man about the legality of LED bulbs, he says there is no actual embargo on their use in earlier optics. Obviously, the better the LED bulb, the closer it will resemble the beam pattern expected, which will be checked at MOT. It would...

Re: FRONT BRAKE Update
Just a comment on LED headlamp bulbs after a great deal of experimentation. It's vital to get those that duplicate the configuration of the original filament types, rather than go for those that offer '360 degree' illumination. Avoid the fat quadruple COB units like the plague because they only prov...

Re: Scrambler rear wheel nut torque
Noted your difficulty with getting the rear wheel out and in. On my 2010 Scrambler, I find it is the easiest bike ever for doing this! The disc just slides out of the caliper/pads because of the positioning of the latter, ie rather forward and above the spindle, thus the direction of travel and grav...

Re: Broken Swing Arm
What a super resource the forum is! Trawling through the Scrambler-related topics, I lit on this and, as Chris suggested, referred to the GranPasso page. Scary or wot?! Not only did it have me looking at the swingarm on my machine, but it alerted me to the too-tight chain! I'd just replaced ...

Not so much the obligatory ADV beak as a wonky konk: only a face a mother could like, I think! The red/white/black colour-scheme seems a trifle overdone, regardless of its retro Morini inspiration. Sigh...

Re: Brakes: what's that all about?
Looking on ebay, the pads for the 2008-9 Scramblers are the ones fitted to the 2000 Ducati ST4, and the Cagiva Raptors of similar age, all of which have the four-pot Brembos current at the time. 2010 onwards, they are completely different. I'm just pointing this out to alert those of us in the exclu...

Brakes: what's that all about?
Looking at the sundry spares available for the Scramblers, I found a curious item regarding the brakes. It appears that the first versions had conventional four-pot brembo front calipers, but the later ones had twin-pot sliding versions. The rear brake changed too. Of course, the pads are quite diff...

Hi Nick, The mudguard at the back is, I think, to meet some construction regulation regarding the rear light having to be behind the wheel. Not sure, but somebody who has read the finer points will be along shortly to confirm... :) Mike Mike; I'm sure you are right about that, or that bodywork has ...

Re: The Seiemezzo
Hi Chris, I've looked at the factory web-site, but there's little word about the engine, beyond being a parallel twin. Is it Morini's own, or something the clever Chinese have knocked up? It's always a bit worrying to see a model listed as an entry-level machine. Cheap and nasty? I hope not! I have ...

Re: Owners manual for Scrambler
I was looking for an owner's manual too...I also suffer from bouts of extreme enthusiasm and bought a 2009 Scrambler a month ago. Love it. It's completely nuts! Might that have been the red one with gold cylinder-heads that was also on ebay? I barely noticed that before it disappeared and the red/w...

Re: Battery trickle charge lead
It's a great pity that Morini didn't think it through when, alone of the brands I know of, they provided a charging lead but terminated it beneath the seat. One of the first jobs I do on any new-to-me bike is add a fused flying lead, with superseal socket, straight from the battery that's accessible...
