Morini 500 project for sale
IMG_2651.jpeg Morini 500 project. 1981 U.K. bike, matching numbers V5 in my name. Bought as an incomplete project, I’ve gradually collected most of the missing parts. There is no electric start and the kickstarter is a late top swivel type, there are no switches but the loom, generator, ignition sy...

Re: Sourcing bottom end spares
I believe Ariel square 4 shells (1000cc) might be worth investigating. The inner diameter of the big end eye is 1.5002-7 so same as the Morini 500 and the standard crank big end journal is 1.375”/34.925mm. They are easily available eg from Dragonfly.

Re: C Spanner for Exhaust Ring
If anyone is still looking for an exhaust nut wrench could I recommend the ones produced by Rick Stemp? I received mine yesterday and it fits nicely and is a good thickness. The thread about them was in the “for sale” section. No connection etc!

Re: Anyone with a 501/507 engine in bits on here?!
I have taken the left hand cover off an Excalibur 507 engine this afternoon - it is ear marked to go in my 3 1/2 in due course. As others have already reported, the kickstart gear has 19 teeth and measures 52.9mm diameter. I had an old 350 equivalent to hand. This has 20 teeth and measures 52.0mm ac...

Hi Simon
I may be able to help on this one, but give me a day or two to remember where the relevant parts might be.

Re: Spewing oil.
Your reply to Pat's comment - a little terse perhaps? If the dipstick isn't sealing properly, the symptoms are as you describe. If the o rings on the dipstick are worn or hardened oil gets all over the back of the engine. I know as I replaced the base gaskets before I worked this out. Not much fun o...

Re: 350 exhausts to 500 Heads
Measuring some of the scrap in my garage gives these dimensions: 350 pipe has an initial wider section against the exhaust gasket in the head of 33mm stepping down to a narrower section of 28mm, 500 pipe is 38mm dropping to 35mm (all outside diameters). The ID of 350 exhaust nut is 34mm, the id of a...

Re: Strada 3 1/2 cylinder head wanted
I am selling these (and the barrels + pistons and complete 3 1/2 engine also on ebay). I have no idea what the ones for sale in Germany are like, but these are ok and could be used after a good clean. All threads are good, and I took one exhaust valve out to check the guides - some play but I would ...
Re: 501 carbs
Is there a consensus on best carb settings for a 501 engine with a standard 500 (roadster) airbox? I assume the jetting for an ex camel 501 engine with standard L cam is going to be rather different when fitted to an early 500 chassis with the standard 478 airbox. Other's experience might save me a ...
