Re: Registration
Sad to see things are almost as mixed up over on the other side of the channel as they are here in Belgium. I bought a bike from a guy a while back here in Belgium. He had bought it in Italy and shoved it in the back of a van. He hadn't done any of the import procedures on arriving and was planning ...

That's a very kind offer, Bruno! (The help, I mean, not the Floreffe ) I am kind of busy at the moment, and need to organise the space in the cellar to work on the engine - and get it off the bike - but I'll certainly get back in touch with you once I get down to the nitty gritty! Hope you're...

Thanks to everyone for their tips and encouragement - I've decided to have a go. It'll certainly be more satisfying doing it myself than trying to find someone to do it for me! The fact that it's winter will help, and then there's plenty of West Vleteren beer down in the cellar to keep me company - ...

Thanks for the advice - sorry I haven' t got back to you before now. It's been a busy week. Doesn't seem to be any movement on the flywheel. If one (or more) of the pushrods had got bent, what kind of effect would this have had on the valve clearance? There would now be more clearance since they're ...

Chain thrown off - head intact, engine less so
Evening all, Just spent a couple of hours looking at the bike after the chain came off about 2 weeks back. The nut for the front sprocket had slackened off, so I guess there was enough sideways movement for the master link to split open. Anyway, the chain wrapped itself around the front sprocket ins...

3 1/2 Sport chain
Evening all,
Is the correct chain for the 3 1/2 Sport a 530 with 96 links?
I found a reference to the chain for the Strada on the Dutch website but wondered if the Sport was the same since it has a bigger back hub.
Any input gratefully received,
Nick

Umm, are you removing the balance pipe, or the fuel pipe between the carbs? If a balance pipe is fitted, there are usually no vacuum take-off ports on the inlet manifolds and vice versa. What year/version is your sport? Ahh! Another triumph of my own ignorance - I'd thought that they were the same ...

Hi Neil, Thanks for the reply - I tried that and got no movement whatsoever on the columns. There was plenty of petrol in the Carbtune tubes afterwards tho'. I'm beginning to think the carburettors are suspect. Did you do ok with the mixture screw? ie hearing the engine get faster or slower or...

carburettor balance pipe question
Hello, I've been having a go at balancing the carburettors on my Sport but I don't seem to be having much success. I'm using a Morgan Carbtune connected to the holes in the manifolds after removing the little metal plugs. I understand that the balance pipe between the carbs has to be removed to bala...

Hi Stuart, I've recently done the same job - I think if you refer to the carb balancing section (point 11, maybe) under tech tips on this website you'll get a better description of what you're trying to achieve. Before adjusting the nuts at the top of the carbs the columns will most likely go in opp...

thanks for the tips
Thanks to both of you for the tips - I think the compression is a bit low on the back cylinder but it was the one that wasn't running properly for a while - well, not running at all actually, which is why it wouldn't make it up the ramp out of the garage. Though the compression values from th...

wisps of white smoke
Hello, Finally managed t get the Sport up the 35 degree slope and out of the underground garage where she's been languishing for the last 3 months. Good result - but having been for a quick spin I noticed wisps of whiteish smoke from the exhaust pipe coming from the rear cylinder when I stopped. Wha...
