Re: Morini useage

Commuting means that four letter word beginning with w and ending in k. I think you'll find most owners are of an age where they are retired. I take mine out just for the craic, but I have two other bikes. There is a guy in my town who has a couple and I see him out on his, especially of an evening....

Re: Wanted - Front caliper top mounting bolt

There is a stainless high tensile equivalent. I think it is A4-80. Worth a look.

Re: Mirror Mount

I fitted bar end mirrors. They vibrate a lot less than handlebar mirrors and I can see more road behind. Some are available that fold up if you need the space, as they do make the bike wider.

Re: Bonkers

Ah, them. Their parts are, in my opinion, over priced. But then if parts are rare and somebody wants one that's how it works. This is my concern for the future.

Just to show the carp they are passing off, I bought a pair of these:

I would pick a high tensile bolt, 8.8.

A lot of load through the bolts if braking, generating a bit of heat. 150kg bike plus rider.

Venhill do a service whereby if you send them your existing hoses they were copy them so you get the correct lengths and fittings.

Re: Braided brake lines

Send them to Venhill and they will reproduce them in a colour of your choice and choose your fittings. I, personally, would not want to trust Aliexpress with my brakes. Others may disagree. Your bike, your choice.

Re: float height

Unless somebody has clear float bowls I am not sure how anybody would know. I take the 10mm figure and use that hoping the original engineers had worked it out. Are you worried there is too much fuel in the float bowl? You could try 12mm and see what happens. When I got my bike it ran OK on part th...

Re: Northern England Southern Scotland meetings 2025

Four members and two Morinis today! Good cafe. A guy turned up on an Energica, not with us. Looked lovely, only problem is the range is 120 miles! Then, fill 20kWh battery somewhere. Repeat. My Strada has run 285kms (175 miles) on a tank today and still not on reserve. Just needs five minutes to rec...

Re: 1974 3 1/2, gearbox issues

Don't ride it until fixed. If a part is broken, if it breaks it will lock the rear wheel. The gearbox is not hard. Look at the selector forks, inspect the teeth and also check the bushes. I had a gearbox where the bushes were worn. Still changed gear ok. The selector mechanism can be a problem on re...

Re: Something to be very concerned about.

The problem with bureaucracy, they have to keep fiddling so they have a job. It is one step away from dictating a life span for a vehicle, probably to ensure the conversion to the much more convenient, efficient, totally environmentally friendly EVs. No good for us as unless the batteries improve th...
