Re: 1976 3 1/2 strada for sale
Good Morning Ken, I have sent you a pm with my email details, thanks Paul.
Re: Plugs
Hi John, Yes from your comments and those of Tom the BP8EV’s seem to soot up easily, the plugs in my bike follow that trend, black as night. Regarding the slack in the throttle cables, this is an aspect of the balancing which I intend to concentrate on. I am new to this home mechanics, never having ...

Re: How noisy is your Strada?
I can recall buying a 3 1/2 strada from NLM in 2009. My initial thoughts were similar to yours! Some how the bike seemed different to the Morini’s I had owned 30 years previous, was this purely the way 30 year old bikes ride. I asked Stuart to check the bike, which he duly did. He subsequently asked...
Re: Plugs
Thanks Tom for the advice. I will change the plugs and see if we have any improvement.
It may be a process of trial and error but I am sure we will get there in the end.
Thanks again.
Regards
Paul

Plugs
Going through a process of elimination whilst trying to balance the carbs. The carbs have been cleaned, new air filters, new needles, everything as it should be. The bike starts on the button and has an even tick over. The issues is when you attempt to balance the carbs when applying throttle. Inste...

Re: Clutch adjustment
Thanks for your help, Mark/John. I will spend sometime in the garage tomorrow and see if we can improve the action of the clutch. I had the replacement cable made up at Carrott Cycles (Lincoln) and at the same time they made me a spare. There is no doubt that the adjuster arm is showing its age, but...

Clutch adjustment
After fitting a new clutch cable I have been trying to adjust the clutch to the recommended free travel. With a minimum amount of free travel at the lever I have removed the right side cover to adjust the clutch operating lever pivot. The blue book recommends that the distance between the lever and ...

Re: key cutting Blank needed?
Hi Richard, The business is in Louth some 45 miles from you. Jameson Shoe Repairs, tel 07535 79619 The proprietor doesn’t have blanks specifically for Moto Morini’s, however he was able to secure a close match. From this he was able to craft a working spare. If I remember correctly the blank he used...

Re: key cutting Blank needed?
Should be no problem, my local lock smith took my one and only key and cut the spare.

Re: mpg
Mpg would appear to be a little lower than I experienced over 13 years of ownership. I would say some where on or just below 40 on most runs. This was on open roads, little or no town or city work. I only ever used premium fuel, She’ll advanced mostly. My 9 1/2 was standard in all respects, didn’t s...

Re: Starting /battery issues
All good advice some of which I will use myself when looking to charge/replace the battery. Fortunately I acquired my 500 (5 speed) from an elderly member of the VMCC who had spent sometime and money improving the electric start. The issues were resolved once the cracked starter clutch drum was repl...

Re: Wanted for 500 Strada
Thanks Steve for the exhaust hangers.
It was great to see so many MRC members out enjoying VMCC’s founders day.
I trust you went home with less autojumble than you came with.
Thanks again,
Regards

Wanted for 500 Strada
I need a R/H exhaust hanger bracket, the original on the bike has a crack so will require replacing before it fractures.
Does anyone have one or indeed the L/H as well knocking around in their garage?
Thanks
Paul

Re: How many Scramblers in the UK?
Hi Tony, Total registrations were 7 as you pointed out. It is unlikely that any further bikes were imported, dealers were very careful when ordering stock. I am not aware of any new/old stock held by dealers. My local dealer had a new scrambler, but sold it to another dealer who had customer lined u...

Re: 36th MRC Track Day - Cadwell Park - Thursday 12th July
Just a final update, track day 2018 is now officially FULL. All available places have been allocated, a maximum of 120 entries, split across three sessions, Morini, Moderate & Rapid. Once again the club will receive the support of North Leicester Motorcycles, who will also have a selection of bi...
