Re: gearbox issue. help

My output shaft had no end clearance from the factory and
would start to bind when the bike got hot.

I've also had the issue with the tarrozzis.of course that was
after I'd torn down and rebuilt the motor to fix the binding issue....

With the cam in v blocks or rollers on the bench,
start with 1mm clearance to dial indicator.

Re: Crankshaft cambelt pulley removal/ replace

10 minutes in the oven at 450*f and it should pop back on np As for valve (cam) timing, you will need a degree wheel attached to the crank , 10" of stiff wire (For a pointer) and patience. Use the factory listed valve timings for your camshaft, with the tappets adjusted to 1mm clearance. The bl...

Re: L-5 Cam Question for the LSR ?

I once took the time to degree an "L5" re grind from
3D in Germany. Turns out it was nothing like the published
numbers for factory L5 but actually a sport cam with 1mm
Higher lift... So you know... Now you have another option
with less overlap....

Re: 550 Valentini Mystery

No you haven't missed anything...
Just on the back burner for now.
It's a 478 bottom end w/5 speed tranny and
L5 cam, the pistons and barrels are garbage
So I will be seeking suitable replacements when the time comes...
The valentini kit is in good shape

Re: 500 Heads

The heads won't fit though. The intake valve is too close to the barrel wall
iirc. Was told by Stuart at NLM. I've never tried.

Re: replacement brake disc

Yes a surface grinder would work to take the 2mm off the mounting portion
of the disc... Most machine shops would have one....

Re: replacement brake disc

I suppose as George has mentioned you could take the material
from the fork leg ... But as the calipers are still available
they seemed the most logical to modify incase of error.

Re: replacement brake disc

You will need to REMOVE 2mm from the caliper mounts not add
One of the mounts uses a thick washer which can be replaced with one
that is thinner
The other mount will require taking material off the caliper.
I used a bench grinder.

Re: timing belts alternate source usa

I bought a bunch of belts from my local bearing shop a few
years back... They were all too loose... Waste of time and money.
Call Hermy and get a proper belt.
