Re: And still, I remain confused...
I recently helped someone who needed to drain their tank. We drained the lhs using a pipe from the tap spigot into cans without apparent problem. We then connected the hose up to the rhs (reserve) tap and watched for fuel... nothing. Tried cycling the tap positions... still nothing, but there was cl...

Re: Refurbishing carbs, what parts wear
I am getting towards the completion of getting my Strada recommisioned. A PO had fitted a Sachse ignition system; I added new PVL coils, BP7ES plugs, and ultrasonically cleaned the carbs to get it going, though there was still a pronounced stutter at around 4k rpm. The bike appears to be fitted with...

Sachse ignition system lessons
Earlier this year I bought a '78 Strada to satisfy a long term itch. It had had a high number of owners and had been a 'project' prior to my purchasing it. It ran, albeit not too happily, but with the arrogance of a number of rebuilds behind me, I knew I could sort it... It had been fitted with a Sa...

Re: Rear Brake Shoes
Not knowing how old the shoes are in my cast wheel Strada, I bit the bullet and tried the Newfren shoes from Steine Dinse. Before anyone rushes out to buy some... beware! The original brake shoes are a fine casting (diecast?) with pivot point and cam end fittings accurately and well defined; the New...

Re: Rear Brake Shoes
Been looking at M&P. They don't give too much information to give confidence they fit your particular bike. Another alternative is to use Villiers Services brake shoe relining service. Cheaper than M&P too.

Re: Gas Tank vibration rubber isolators
My planned solution, come the day of the requirement, will be to get rubber washers from our local fastener supplier (Wentin fasteners), cut them to size on id and od using a template and then glue them together as a stack to get the correct thickness. Do you have the central steel bush that prevent...

Standard ignition advance curve
Would anyone have a plotted advance curve for the standard ignition system of a 350? The manual states static timing is -10deg and max advance for strobing is 34deg at 6000rpm. Reality is that full advance probably occurs closer to a max of 5000 rpm. If the advance curve is a straight line, this wou...

Re: Cast wheel colour id
Sounds as though you had a less than perfect experience... My wheels and sprocket carrier hub were completely stripped as I was putting a new chain and sprockets on...As with many jobs, one thing led to another and before I knew where I had got to the wheels were being done! I used AC Powder Coaters...

Cast wheel colour id
I have just had my '78 Strada wheels stripped and powder coated and as I had spent some time trying to pinpoint the likely original colour possibilities, I thought it may be helpful to post the results on here. I found two references for the wheel colour; the first was from Sorensen's website, showi...

Hi
The 'chrome' strips have been discussed on here previously. IIRC they can be sourced from a firm ca!!ed Phoenix at Uffculme near Cullompton. If I find the topic I will edit this to include their site address. Edit: Phoenixtrim.co.uk

Parts for '78 Strada
Has anyone got a late kickstart assy they are willing to part with (the type that hinges at the bottom) that I could use on a '78 350 Strada please? Also, I am on the lookout for an exhaust heatshield for the same bike... and yes, I am looking for the proverbial unicorn poo, I know... but if I don't...

Re: Parts for '78 Strada
Many thanks to all those who have provided an input. I am fairly used to a LH kickstart (Guzzi Nuovo Falcone) so I may well end up just removing the sidestand for the time being. I will keep an eye out for a late kickstart assy... and a heatshield on the internet rocking horse manure site and will p...

Re: Parts for '78 Strada
Well, I have tried to shrink a photo of my sidestand to a size that can be coped with here, but working with an android tablet and my general incompetence with matters computing, I cannot get it to a small enough size, hu hum! I have put a straight edge along the lower frame tube in as many position...
