Re: Sump plug

Good to meet you at the weekend Christine, if you haven't found a car type sump plug already I will have a usable spare original here somewhere. One advantage of knowing the thread size as supplied above, is that you can also look around for a magnetic replacement too. Also ref the Warks section mee...

Re: H4 bulbs can I swap for an LED bulb

Also have a look at Paul Goff’s site http://www.norbsa02.freeuk.com/ My Sport should have had the rectangular light but that came as a spare, the bike being fitted with the concave Cibie unit. The only longish night riding I have done was in very dark France and it performed well. At present it is ...

Re: Jetting issue?

Many thanks Steve- I will check float heights, lower needle height (needles not worn I don't think) and re strobe timing as I have moved it without re checking. I will then try no air filters if these adjustments don't improve things. best Matt It's usually the needle JETS that wear rather than the...

Re: idiot lights

Another occasional oil pressure worry is when the castellated nut on the primary drive gear is not fully tight. The drive gear is keyed to the crank but just next to it and held by it too is the drive worm to the oil pump (and this bit is NOT keyed!). The large nut needs to be tight. Properly tight...

Re: Jetting issue?

Fuel level in float chamber? Throttle needle set high or needle jet worn-quite common? A quick way to test the air filter contribution is to disconnect the rubber hoses from carb to air box and refit them pointing away/down so picking up unfiltered air. You can't ride far or fast like this as the ru...

Re: Metal replacements for rubber intake manifold 350

In my opinion those from Mdina will be your best bet. It's likely the failed ones on yours were from a batch that NLM had made and turned out to be a bit short lived. As I understand it the Mdina ones are from the Italian supplier Startgomma and very good quality-I have a pair on my Camel. The origi...

Re: 500 electronic ignition

In your position I'd be looking at those transducers being made and marketed in Italy-the ones that include the tacho drive connection. There were posts on here recently detailing who was making and selling them. I have used the blue scooter transducers with success and they do have an advance curve...

Re: Strada/kanguro Hybrid

The flywheels and stators are interchangeable so an easy swap. If the Kanga motor is a 6/12 volt type, the stator wires should give it away. They would have a grey wire a yellow and maybe a white lead along with the green for the ignition feed. It i was from a 12v/elec start version the leads will b...

Re: New 3 1/2 owner

It could be the stand arm itself is bent-that happens as well as the frame damage mentioned above. Nice looking bike though and a pleasant change to hear it runs and pulls well. Most bikes that change hands don't and the poor new owner has to trawl through all the posts on here about it! :) Summer i...

Re: Some carb balancing questions

That balancing tip is a new one to me as well! Not poo pooing it though-I'll try it out! As for the question about pilot jets-there isn't one size that is right for every bike. It will depend on other things like engine condition and airbox or exhaust systems too. Also altitude and local fuel suppli...

Re: CDI mal function ?

If it was running ok before I wouldn't expect the ignition to fail just like that. Have you accidently disturbed any of the wiring when the tank was off? Are the balance points for the carbs connected or leaking air-damaged rubber pipe etc or if blocked off are the bungs intact?
