Re: Twist grip replacement

Just to clarify, it’s the half that does not have the cables going through that I need to replace. Cheers.

Twist grip replacement

Hi, I’m looking for advice on a suitable replacement for my Verlicchi twin pull twist grip. (1976 Sport). I have managed to crack the bottom half aluminium casing. I suspect due to uneven tightening of the Allen screws. I note that Tommaselli do a Daytona 2C twin pull twist grip for 22mm bars. Does ...

Re: Grimeca master cylinder lever operation

Fair comment, a thorough clean of the master cylinder was required. Rusty crud had accumulated at the spring end eventually resulting in a sticking piston. Old brake fluid purged from the system, lever adjusting screw set and locked, front brake restored!

Re: Grimeca master cylinder lever operation

Thanks both for the replies. Reassuring to know I do have the bits I need to put it back together. Still think the design is poor. I suspect the sticking piston along with a badly adjusted brake lever screw caused the bit in between to drop out of position.
I’ll be keeping a close eye on it in future!

Grimeca master cylinder lever operation

My 1976 Sport has wire wheels and twin discs. It has a 16mm diameter Grimeca master cylinder with single outlet. Today the lever locked up such that the lever was solid but not operating the piston. On investigation there appears to be a separate component that transfers the force from the adjuster ...

Re: Ignition fault

Final update. Bike now running really well with new black pick up from Mdina fitted and timing set with strobe. I made leads up to incorporate diodes in series with red wires on pick up. This per you - tube video by Soren Hansen. He has made a series of videos just on Morini electronic ignition whic...

Re: Ignition fault

Thanks for all the tips. I’ve taken the plunge and bought a new black pick up from a well known uk source. I’ve made up some leads with diodes to connect in series with the red wires as per Soren Hansen video. Static timing is a bit imprecise as there are no marks on the new pick ups but she runs. A...

Re: Ignition fault

Further investigation has revealed the bike actually has a gen 1 red pick up with a gen 2 rotor so not sure if I can still go for a black pick up option ? I know the coil arrangement is different but the rotor would be compatible. On the alternator front I'm getting 210 ohms on the ignition winding ...

Ignition fault

Having my got my 1976 350 sport running well, the bike has now developed an ignition fault. The fault only shows itself once the engine is hot and results in loss of spark to the front cylinder. Let the bike cool down and I can start it and it will run on both cylinders, till it gets hot again. Havi...

Re: Throttle cable woes

Thanks for the responses. Issue ‘resolved’ by removing carb top adjusting screw lock nuts this now allows required slide travel with the new throttle cables. It would appear that the Venhill cable exposed inner cable length before carb nipple, (Quoted as 78mm) is too short for my bike. Removing the ...

Throttle cable woes

Having had a throttle cable fail on my 1976 350 sport I ordered a pair of new ones from a well known specialist supplier. They are of Venhill manufacture and are of the dimensions they quote for the bike. However on installation, the throttle slides do not fully close even with the carb top adjuster...
