Re: Where can I get my rotor remagnetised?

Hi Simon, Our very own 'evguru' Paul Compton can remagnetise flywheels. Send him a PM to find out more. I have to ask what you mean by one voltage being half the other though? Each of the yellows to red should have a similar voltage, which should be half of what you get from yellow to yellow. If the...

Re: Stock Air Box questions

Hi, To answer one of the original questions, the holes on the top of the air box would originally had the rocker cover breathers going to them. If the pipework isn't connected, then blank off the holes as otherwise unfiltered air will go through. Not much of it I know, but every little bit of filtra...

Re: Strada MK5 Front Spindle washer

For the original poster,
The washer goes under the nut on the outside of the fork leg. It is there to stop the fork leg getting mullered by the nut when it is tightened.

Re: Strada MK5 Front Spindle washer

As I mentioned recently on a similar thread, this washer is really the grease retainer for the wheel bearing, not a washer between the spindle and the bearing. If, like most owners, the wheel bearings have been renewed with sealed bearings, then the washer is 100% unnecessary. The ONLY washer on the...

Re: fuel cap catch

Hi, Is that paint where the seal fits? If so, be wary. On mine the fuel tracked under the paint and took it off. Not just where the seal fits, but around the outside of the cap mounting/filler neck onto the tank top too. Typically, there was an article in one of the classic mags the following month ...

Re: Wheel bearing tapered washers

Hi Mike, I take it the washer is item 16 on the parts diagram? If so, it is, I believe the grease shield for the bearing. I take it that the large diameter of the spindle passes through it? If so, refitting depends on whether you have installed sealed bearings or not. If bearings have rubber seals, ...

Re: new to morini

Wire colours from memory. Blue = ground/earth Grey = tacho signal feed Brown = switched 12v Green/yellow = light feed for smaller lights ( speedo/tacho illumination, side light and tail light. It would be worth your while getting a copy of the wiring diagram . There are good colour versions on the m...

Re: new to morini

Sounds correct. It suggests yours is one of the earlier style with a red light to tell you that the ignition was on. Not unusual to have no bulb as the red could be annoying when riding at night. If there are a pair of wires "loose" near the socket (brown=switched 12v, blue=ground) that wo...

Re: Front fork leg’s alternatives?

Hi, Pantah ones can fit straight on, but it depends on what year your bike was built. My '78 Strada has them (Tarozzi) and they are good now, but I had to make up various spacers to make them work. Others have fitted them without issue as they were the same as their old ones. To me, they are well ma...

Re: Lighting circuit problem

Hi. Alternator output on earlier (pre electric start) 350's was only given as 100W - and no data was ever given as to how many revs were required to achieve that. Add in age, demagnetised flywheels, poorer connections, ridiculously thin wires in the switches etc, then they will struggle. For what it...

Re: Bottom end strip

Hi Oli,
In answer to 1/, you need to undo the two cap head screws in the clutch side of the crankcases.
2 and 3 are as Mickey says.

Seat trim screws

Hi All. Does anyone know of a cheaper source of the tiny screws that hold the aluminium trims to the sides of the seats on pre 1980 bikes? The nearest I've found is from BMW - see pic- SeatBolt319-2T.jpg and they charge £2.40 each for them! That's a lot for an M3x15 screw to me, especially when you ...

Re: Indicators

Hi Paul, I have these indicators on my Norton They are well known for earthing issues if using the casing/stem only. You should find that there is enough room to feed a second wire down the stems on them. Terminate the end inside the indicator with a small ring and fix to by one of the bulb holder s...

Refitting bezels

Hi Mike, I have had my Norton's 'Smiths' rev counter rebuilt and when refitting the bezel, the guy doing it used a lathe! Very cleverly mind you. He held the speedo body in a fixture in the chuck, a large 'pad' in/on the tailstock was used to hold the bezel in place, and a tool with a small bearing ...

Re: Replacement Fork Tubes

Brooks and Wemoto advertise Tarozzi fork tubes - I got mine through Wemoto. Morini may well not be listed, but Ducati Pantah probably are, and they will fit. I have these on my Strada. Just beware, in my case I found differences between my '78 fork internals and top caps when compared to the later (...
