Re: Armours Silencers

It may be luck of the draw as I've had Armours down pipes on my 500 for years and they are superb. They're a real tight fit and I've had a front exhaust nut come off twice without even noticing, they're so snug a fit. What is worth noting is the silencers however. I bought a pair of these at the tim...

I'm done. Missed last year for the first time in 25+ years (barring one birth) due to 'administrative non-compliance.' I'm all in order................

Re: 501 Rebuild camshafts?

What Harry is saying is that it is correct that the cam follower is not in the middle of the cam lobe. The centre line of the cam follower is slightly off-set to one side. This ensures the cam follower rotates when the engine is running, to avoid the cam always hitting it in the same place (and so w...

Desperately sad to hear this. I had many a good chat with Rob over the years, particularly at Cadwell.

Re: ATG353 now online

Nice one,

Loved the Christine/Trevor Wise article. Trevor rode some interesting bikes in his time. A Benelli six springs to mind, which deserves some sort of award in it's own right!

Cheers

Re: 400 pistons

Hi Pedro, I'll add my two penny-worth. It may cloud the waters further, but does at least come from the horses mouth. A few years ago, interviewing Franco Lambertini (nice name drop there) for a magazine I asked him about the difference between the combustion chambers in the 500 and 350 pistons. Sin...

Re: 400 pistons

Hi Pedro. Do your pistons look like this? I have a set of barrels with piston like these and I'm pretty sure they're Guzzi. I have never run them and my main concern is that the Gudgeon pin is central, when in a morini, obviously, it is not. As such I guess the bad thing is they'll add some vibratio...

Re: Help on an early Sport

Yes, I thought the whole idea of a Morini was to find out how much you could throw away without effecting the performance. Why anyone would want that bloody big drum, for example, defeats me too. They do look nice but have you ever experienced the difference between one and a disc  Keep it fo...

Re: rev limiter

Hi, I'd look into what transducers you're using before you start talking about rev limits/limiters. If you can find a copy of Vic Willoughby's 'Classic motorcycle engines' (or similar title - its a large format book, yellow cover) when talking to Lambertini he mentions that the transducers back-off ...

Re: 175 Singles - Engine number prefixes

Hi I'd agree there is a lot of interchangeability. But there are differences in gearbox bearing sizes (some cases have 'blind' casings on the gearbox sprocket side, but some have bolt-on/off covers/bearing holders) while Turismos had some bronze bushes where other models had needle roller bearings (...

Re: Help can you identify a Morini Single

Hi Nick,

It's a 175 Tursismo. If the grey paint is original it could be about 1954. Is the coil up inside the tank, in a tubular container? If so it's a very early one.

Cheers
