Normaly you can pull it out with 2 wood screws. Mark it first with a fine "Piker" where you want to place the screws. When fitted them, pull with some pliers. That should work (did so the times I tried it)

I´m still waiting for an original 500 airbox to face that problem and wonder wether it will be easier or even worse with 28 carbs and 501 barrels. 350 and 500/501 crankshaft right side: 30-40-7 Camshaft right side: 15-24-7 gear changing: 14-22-4 (or 5) sprocket: 20-30-7 Have a look behind the alternator wether the three allen screws that hold the bearing carrier for the right hand crankshaft are loose. All these things depend on the year of production and if you have in mind to have a 100% original one (quite rare after all these years!). A foto and frame number would help a lot for orientation

If I want to be sure that my 501 starts first kick (or second): the two chokes open, one slow kick without ignition, then looking for compresion, ignition on and a firm kick. Then immediatley one choke off, the second after about 2-500m. Starting a 501 by kicking is nearly impossible without looking...

Do you have 12 V on the brown cable entering the regulator with ignition on? If not the regulator won´t work.

Green and white wire should be longer because they go to the central electic port. The yellow ones have a shorter way to de regulator. I still can´t find a reason why one of the yellow ones is marked.

I don´t see any reason for the 1 ferrule on one of the yellow wires, there should be none.

A late Excalibur stator should be a Kokussan one.

When one cilinder is off, you can see with a dentists mirror the stamp on the cam . If there is none it´s a strada one.

As far as I know tere are two diferent casing for Street- and Enduromodels. And of course the casings for the Kokussan alternator
