Re: Starter motor clutch shoes
Possibly a daft question, can the shoes be mounted the wrong way round?

Re: What`s your other bike ?
I have the Yamaha YZF125R that I bought to learn on, which gets used during the winter months as it has fuel injection, engine management and starts on the button. And a 1994 Honda RVF400 which always needs a bit of coaxing into life... It was whilst on a track day at Snettterton on the Honda that I...

Re: left hand gearchange conversions
I have a USA import which had the LH gearchange, plus a box of bits. I can take some pics and/or measure up the cross tube locations if you want.

This might explain the aging biker population...
Apparently, the Baby-Boomers all have motorcycles. Generation X is only buying a few, and the next generation isn't buying any at all. A recent study was done to find out why? Here are the reasons why Millennials don't ride motorcycles: 1. Pants won't pull up far enough for them to straddle the seat...

Re: Some carb balancing questions
Setting the carbs to be balanced at idle and then having one open fractionally before the other is how Haynes manuals recommend twin carb MG's, Triumphs, Minis etc should be set up. To my mind that made balancing carefully for idle seem a bit pointless Twin SU manifolds normally have a balance pipe ...

Re: Date change
I had a similar issue recently, DVLA wouldn't accept a photo of the chassis sticker with the build date clearly written on it as evidence of when it was made! After some to-ing and fro-ing with dating certificates, the Glass's check book (which seems to be the only reference the DVLA will actually a...

It's nice to see that the bikes all have signs of regular use, they aren't just sat in a museum or cosseted in a collection

Re: Dating by frame and engine numbers
Having sent DVLA the Glass's info with no details in it they have decided that they would be able to accept a dating certificate as proof of age....just like the one I had originally sent them that they said wasn't acceptable as proof of age... !! However they couldn't provide a new 'age related' 19...

Re: Dating by frame and engine numbers
Does anyone have access to a copy of Glass's Check Book for motorcycles? As Mark pointed out DVLA will accept a dating letter from a club as evidence for claiming historic tax status of a vehicle (which they already know to be historic from the registration information they hold). However they don't...

Re: Dating by frame and engine numbers
My 1980 Sport was imported from the US in 1992. The DVLA have the date of manufacture shown as 1990 I have submitted a dating letter from Arthur to get this corrected and have just received a reply from the DVLA stating "dating evidence from any vehicle enthusiast club or specialist vehicle dat...

Re: Carburettors
Having been chasing a solution for a light throttle (trundlling along in a speed limit sort of light) misfire I read this thread with interest. I'd balanced the carbs and throttle cables carefully, changed idle jets and tweaked the idle screws to the best of my ability and couldn't get rid of it. As...
