Re: Steering damper bracket

I’m happy to lend you my bracket so you can take requisite dimensions for fabrication. All I ask is you return it fairly promptly. As has been said on many previous occasions, the damper serves little purpose but it is a nice item to have even if it is just for originality. If this is of interest PM...

Re: Silencer dimension

Not sure what style of silencers were fitted to a 1982 model 3 1/2. My current bike is, allegedly, pre 1980 and therefore I wanted the twin seam style article. I took delivery of the Mdina supplied silencers today. They look fantastic. My first Morini 3 1/2 was purchased new in 1979. From my “rose t...

Re: Silencer dimension

Hendre, thank you for the link to brezzisamuele. I believe their silencers are the same as those now sold by Mdina in the UK.

I’ve ordered a pair and should receive them in a couple of days. Very much looking forward to seeing and hearing them on the bike.

Re: Silencer dimension

I found some silencers that looked like the originals at moto storiche, www.mtostoricheitaliane.com. Out of curiosity I then checked Mdina Italia who, as it turns out, are offering top/bottom “seamed” silencers as per the originals. I contacted Mdina to ascertain the dimensions and in conversation i...

Re: Silencer dimension

That’s really helpful.
Dimensions for the original and aftermarket item are very similar.
Many thanks for your help.

Silencer dimension

Can anyone help with some dimensions? I would like to know the dimensions of an original, I believe Lanfranconi, silencer, the one with the upper and lower vertical seam. In particular the overall length and diameter at the outlet end. If you a fortunate enough to possess such an item would you mind...

Re: Crankshaft timing side oil seal

Many thanks for the info. I’ve seen seen twin lip as well as single lip seals on offer made in various materials for different applications so wasn’t sure of the best option. After a few miles of riding there is oil on the right hand side of the engine (visible on the ribbed area of the sump around ...

Crankshaft timing side oil seal

Can anyone advise on the best type of crankshaft oil seal.
There seem to be a couple of lip configurations and materials so not sure which type to go for.
Thanks in advance for any pointers.

Re: Timing side crankshaft oil seal

Thanks for the guidance on refitting the pinion. When I come to put it on I will give it a “sensitive” bash.

Re: Compression

Do you mean psi reading on a compression test gauge?
Strada 10:1 compression ratio would give 161 psi reading according to various conversion websites. A Sport at 11:1 would give 184psi. Does this help?

Re: Timing side crankshaft oil seal

Thank you for that piece of info. I Removed/re-fitted the pinion some years ago but cannot recall how difficult it was to re-fit. I do not believe there is a special tool for pressing the pinion into place that utilises the threaded end of the crank as a stop against which pressure can be applied. P...

Re: Timing side crankshaft oil seal

Not yet attempted re-fitting. I will heat the pinion as a matter of course but not sure that will be sufficient to get it back in place without force.

Timing side crankshaft oil seal

I need to replace the timing side crankshaft oil seal with the engine in-situ. Dis-assembly no problem. Any ideas on how to re-install the timing belt pinion. It’s a tight fit on the crankshaft and it’s not good practice to drift it on as this would apply unacceptable forces on the bearings. Anyone ...
