478 cam timing
Can somebody please correct me if this is wrong. I'm beginning to question my sanity regarding cam timing due to conflicting advice. Front cylinder TDC or PMS1 on rotor. Power stroke ie both valves closed ( rocker arms freed ). Morini manual states that cam pulley should have dimple mark at 12 o'clo...

Re: 500 pick-up
Well my red pick up coils do include diodes, having checked with meter. Also forward bias resistance check gives 20mA at 1.8V on each so compatible numbers with yours. This does mean back to suspecting coil / flywheel magnetism. Can you please help me find a way of checking flywheel and coil besides...

Re: 500 pick-up
Thanks, good to know, will try to emulate tomorrow. I am now begining to suspect my main ignition stator coil. Yes it reads 300 ohms but for two transducer coils or two timing rotor windings to fail is too much coincidence. Your youtube clip shows an external hv psu used to simulate magneto coil. An...

Re: 500 pickup/transducer
Paul
Looking at your u tube postings I see a high voltage power supply from a photo copier being used for transducer primary voltage. Can you make any suggestions as too what would be suitable ie Maplin/Farnell/CPC/Radio Spares partcode
Cheers,Joseph

500 pick-up
Hi yet again
Does anyone have a black ignition pick-up for sale for a 478 engine.
I suspect my red one, which is incorrect for my grey transducers, is faulty. (If anyone knows what the forward bias resistance readings should be then please let me know.)

Re: 500 pickup/transducer
Hi Paul, you are said ignition guru! I too work in electronics, Ox'd Uni' Physics dep't. Saw your reply. Yes red pick-up and grey transducer should work together after a fashion but mine do not. Any combination that I try of either pick-up coil and either tranducer still will not spark. Saw your pos...
