Re: 125 WITH NO SPARK

Aye Leonard, Thank you for your quick reply. I am sorry to read of your two family bereavments and well aware of the resulting glut of formalities to be completed in triplicate. Having spoken with Tony today, it wasn't until he had done some research before your arrival that he thought polarity migh...

Re: 125 WITH NO SPARK

Aye Leonard, After my having received my whole ignition system back from Tony (Scootronics) last September 2022 and the ignition advance problem remaining unresolved, the bike was shunted to the back of the workshop and a cover drawn over the whole debacle! Today, quite on the spur of the mom...

Re: 125 2T

Aye Arthur,

Nice to view the progress.

You'll have it running afore I get 'The Minx' ('79 125H) running and a damn sight more cheaply I suspect!

Good health, BillR

Re: 125 WITH NO SPARK

Aye Paul, thank you for your posting and the attachment. I think that I understand that this article explains how the CDI adjusts the timing, according to the volts that it receives from the trigger coil and not the low tension power supply coil. The figure given is written as " 1,38V ". I...

Re: 125 WITH NO SPARK

Aye Leonard,

Nigel certainly knows his stuff and good to hear his take on the problem.

However, your final sentence sums up my thoughts at present.

Good health, Bill

Re: 125 WITH NO SPARK

Aye Leonard, is the "Horse Power" that you refer to this company? Link: HPI_Belgium I purchased an ignition from them for the Ducati 450 MKIII and couldn't get it to generate a spark! As I had purchased two years before installing the system, any warranty was null and void, so it sits forl...

Re: 125 WITH NO SPARK

Aye Leonard, So, out in the workshop today, with the stove going and the temperature hovering at -4°C inside. Must be daft! I have had a look at the rotor through a watchmakers loup at x5 magnification and the only thing that I came up with was a flake of steel, about 3mm long x 1mm wide, att...

Re: 125 WITH NO SPARK

Aye Leonard, Thank you for the update and detailed info re. the rotor. I shall get the stove lit in the workshop tomorrow and have a looksee. At -7°C last night and going lower tonight, it's a bit parky! However, no complaints, as we don't have the white stuff that you are getting further sou...

Re: 125 WITH NO SPARK

Aye Leonard, It's called a morte cloth! I will be giving my rotor a thorough inspection, but insofar as I am aware there are no moving parts, only the spinning of the rotor on the end of the crankshaft. I can hang 1lb weights off the individual rotor magnets, so I don't think that weak magnet...

Re: 125 WITH NO SPARK

Good morning Leonard, Thank you for your update. I am very sorry to read that Bradford Ignitions appear to have drawn a blank as to the cause of our mutual problem. Whilst I am not at an advanced stage, or thrown more cash at the The Minx, I am investigating the possibilities of using a more ...

Re: Bogging down/ rough running problem

This all reeks as being very similar to the problems that Leonard and I are having with our 125H singles. See the 'Singles' threads on the forum. I know that the 125's are running a different ignition triggering system, based on a Vespa scooter flywheel timed system and the 350V uses trigger coils o...

Re: 125 WITH NO SPARK

Aye Andy and Leonard, Thank you for your further input Andy and Leonard, the detailed set-up notes that your German contact supplied . However, I am unclear how after " ... setting the piston at TDC both valves closed (the firing stroke) ... " I " ... then turn the flywheel rotor back...

Re: 125 WITH NO SPARK

Good morning Leonard, I am not spending any money on components until I have proven that there is something faulty, with a combination of those that I already have. Costs may not break the bank, but I don't wish to acquire more "useful" shelf ornaments! I will post further, once I have som...

Re: 125 WITH NO SPARK

Aye Leonard, my German contact as far as I can translate, is saying that we should not expect to see a gradual advance of the timing when viewed with a strobe, it will just jump to a previous setting this should happen at around 2200 rpm before that - the ignition retards to avoid any kick back on t...
