Re: 501 flywheel timing marks

Ian, there was no emissions valve, just a T piece to the the carbs and vacuum fuel tap which didn't work. I rebuilt the tap and after a while blanked the hose off and ran the bike on one tap, easier when you're constantly removing the tank and playing with the carbs. I did install a balance pipe but...

Re: 501 flywheel timing marks

From the info you 've posted I may be tempted to replace the airbox cone, go back to standard settings and try a bigger main jet. The 'performance' cans on mine presumably aid better exhaust flow , but these, if anything , are quieter than the originals.. Regarding the modifications to your camel/co...

Re: 501 flywheel timing marks

Thanks for sorting that out! The TMS mark on the flywheel rotor is spot on and the A500 mark is 30' to the right. Maybe I'm mistaking pinking for the cylinder fins resonating , as some of the rubber baffles are missing. Bike starts easily , plugs aren't showing lean. I just can't get a smooth progre...

501 flywheel timing marks

I'm confused by the timing marks on my '88 501 Camel flywheel. Norbert gave a good description of it in a recent 'will not idle' thread in the 350 section. It's the last cast Ducati electronica one before the Karkusan ignition bikes. The one with the air shovels. ( great description..) It has PMS 1 a...

Re: Starter clutch shoes - tricky!

Steve asked for material spec which I couldn't provide. but said it wasn't a problem , inspection of the old material would do. I sent him the ID of the clutch drum and 2 drawings , one from the parts book ( exploded view ) and the other from the blue book ( side elevation with a view of the lining ...

Re: Starter clutch shoes - tricky!

Villiers services do a great job on the starter shoes for less than 30 quid..
Contact Steve and get a quote, I had a set done and sent to Spain for £34 all in.
Delighted.

Re: Kanguro / Camel / Sahara Wanted....

Hello Martin, you might consider buying one here in Spain. Here's a good example: https://www.milanuncios.com/motos-de-cross/morini-canguro-350cc-241363453.htm MOT'd with all docs, electric start fully functioning and in very nice condition.. I'm sure it could be had for a lot less. The best colour ...

Re: Clatter

Spanish imports. A ready source of cheap , and usually flawed motorcycles. I live there so they are even cheaper, the flaws , however, are the same. Patchy history ,and few authorised dealerships who lost interest early. As a result most bikes were run into the ground and maintained with scant knowl...

Re: Fuel lines Kanguro X3

Bear in mind the main fuel supply is from the right vacuum tap and your non standard reserve is on the left . Might be good to check the reserve feed pipe inside the tank is shorter than the other side. It may save embarrassment later...!
